| In recent years,with the development of Internet and other technologies,the anomie phenomenon and behavior of fans in the process of star chasing spread rapidly among the public.More and more people pay attention to the irrational idolatry in the process of star chasing.Idolatry refers to " celebrity worship is a type of phenomenon of worship behavior,referring to individuals have a strong psychological tendency to love and identify with an idol,and actively participate in the imitation,admiration,consumption and creation of idols ".Irrational celebrity worship involves society,culture,group,individual and other aspects,which is the result of interaction between fans and environment.This study mainly uses qualitative research,with quantitative research as an auxiliary,to explore the driving factors of star worship,the process from rational worship to irrational worship,and the influencing factors of rational worship.Firstly,this paper uses Celebrity worship scale Chinese Revision(CAS-R)to investigate star fans on Microblog,Douban and other social platforms,and finds that star fans’ involvement in celebrity worship is at a medium level.There are significant differences in gender,age and identity dimensions of celebrity worship among star fans,and 528 irrational idolaters are screened out.Among them,18 irrational idolaters were selected as samples,and data were collected through semi-structured interviews.In this study,18 irrational idolaters were interviewed through semi-structured interviews.The core issue of the interview is the changes in the process of star fans’ celebrity worship and its influencing factors.The interview text is analyzed through the of grounded theory.After further comparative analysis,six main categories are finally obtained,which are“positive feedback”,“behavior”,“subjective experience”,“worship initiation”,“restraining factors”,and ‘accidental irrational behavior’.Further analysis of the establishment of " the formation of irrational celebrity worship " model.Individuals start celebrity worship through relevant opportunities.And with the emergence of positive feedback on accidental irrational behavior,it will promote the individual’s celebrity worship of stars from rational to irrational.In the later stage of worship,due to the influence of reducing factors,the above positive feedback gradually disappeared,and the individual stopped irrational celebrity worship.Based on the above research results,combining with previous studies,this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)The main factors that individuals begin to celebrity worship and put into action are: “similarity”,“yearning for goodness”,“pursuing ideal self and” and “relieving pressure”.(2)The change of individual’s degree of star worship is mainly reflected in two aspects: subjective experience and behavior.From rational to irrational stage:In terms of behavior,they changed from friendly communication with others and accepting others’ criticism and questioning of their idols to aggressive and blindly defending their idols in the process of communication with others.Changes in behavior also show up in investment,from an initial small amount of time and money to an excessive amount.In terms of subjective experience,in the rational stage: the emotional fluctuation caused by stars and star-chasing activities is relatively inconspicuous.The emotional duration is relatively short.The emotional involvement is low,and the appreciation of stars is shallow.In the irrational stage: the emotional fluctuations caused by stars and star-chasing activities is obvious.The emotional duration is relatively long.The emotional involvement is high,and the love for stars is deep.(3)The contributing factors of irrational worship include “individual-individual feedback”,“individual-fan group feedback”,“individual-star feedback” and “individual-social media feedback”.Through these four positive feedback mechanisms,the individual’s irrational behavior is strengthened and the formation of irrational celebrity worship is promoted.(4)The factors that impair irrational worship include physical and mental consumption,forced withdrawal and busy life.Physical and mental depletion is an individual’s self-disillusionment.Forced withdrawal and busyness in life means that the individual gradually reduces attention and participation and stops idolatry. |
