This study takes the returned Xinjiang educated youth and the second generation of educated youth from Shanghai’s Maixilaifu dance group as a case study, using a combination of field research and document analysis to explore the construction, connotation, and social memory of the returned Xinjiang educated youth and the second generation of educated youth in Shanghai. The problems of inheritance and reproduction,as well as the role of Maixilaifu dance in the process of inheritance and reconstruction of its social memory, and then analyze the reasons why this group can be united. The main body of the thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is an overview of the historical life experience of this group of people.Through reviewing the large historical background,we can understand the true life experience of this group of people. This is the reason for their social identity and the basis for the construction of their social memory. The second part is the discussion of the connotation of the social memory of the group. The connotation is summarized into two themes of pain and joy.Through the discussion of the relationship between individual memory and collective memory,we should face up to the forgetting function of memory and pay attention to collective memory. The gleam of individual memory and memory truly reflects the connotation of educated youth and second-generation memory.Through the analysis of the connotation of memory, the logical end of memory is reduced to "remorse" but "no complaint".Such a logical end seems to be contradictory,Actual harmony, and finally achieve unity. The third part is to discuss the inheritance of social memory. The inheritance of social memory of this group cannot be separated from the special memory field of Maixilaifu dance.Maixilaifu dance is a tradition that uses body movements to express emotions.Folk cultural activities have realized the maintenance and inheritance of the memories of educated youth and the second generation of society from both physical and cultural levels. The fourth part explores the reproduction of social memory and combines the identity characteristics of the group to draw the conclusion that social memory regeneration produces identity. However,in the process of identity construction, the educated youth and the second generation also face identity anxiety. In this process,Xi Laifu played a role in alleviating anxiety and promoting the formation of identity, becoming a symbol of educated youth and second-generation identity,a symbol of their social identity, and promoting the continuation and enhancement of identity.Through the research and analysis of the social memory of educated youth and second-generation groups, this article believes that the main reason for the formation of this group is firstly because they have common life experiences and social memories. These experiences and memories allow them to have similar emotions.,Their shared Xinjiang complex made them choose to join the Maixilaifu dance group.Secondly, because they have a similar sense of identity, which is the product of their social memory, the same identity anxiety caused them to experience pain and confusion, but with the relief and disappearance of identity anxiety, the formation and stability of identity,So that this group has a stronger cohesion.
