Off-job Experiences Affect Employee Creativity:The Promotion Of Mastery Experiences And The Hindrance Of Off-job Hassles

In an environment full of global competition and economic pressure,organizations are trying to use employee creativity as a potential resource for change,innovation and survival.Organizations increasingly expect employees to be proactive,innovative,and develop innovative solutions to work-related problems,so as to make their work more efficient.Employee creativity means that employees can generate novel and useful ideas at work,which is vital to the survival and development of the organization,and is also the basis for organizational innovation and the realization of sustainable competitive advantages.Through sorting out the existing literature on work creativity,it is found that researchers have fully explored the organizational factors that affect creativity,but few studies have focused on off-job factors.When employees consume more self-control,attention resources after being creative,supplementing resources through off-job experiences may increase their potential on creativity in the next day.This research is based on existing research,using the Work-Home Resources Model and the cognitive resources theory of creativity as the theoretical framework,and explores the positive effects of mastery experiences on creativity and the negative effects of off-job hassles on creativity,and discussed the specific mechanism of their impact on creativity.This study collected data from 112 employees from different companies through daily investigations.The results show that:(1)Mastery experiences can significantly positively predict the positive emotions activated the next morning;(2)Off-job hassles can significantly negatively predict the activating positive affect the next morning;(3)Activating positive affect can significantly predict the level of creativity on the day;(4)The activating positive affect partially mediates the effect of mastery experiences and off-job hassles on creativity;(5)Mastery experiences does not moderate the negative effects of off-j ob experiences on the activating positive affect.The research results provide new perspectives and empirical evidences for creativity,and provide new research ideas for creativity research.On the practical level,it also tells employees that when they consciously arrange off-job time and take the initiative to cope with the hassles they encounter after work,their creativity at work will be improved.
