Throughout Chinese vocabulary,we can find that its synonyms have a high proportion,and many synonyms are used in daily life.Therefore,the mastering of Chinese synonyms is particularly important for Nigerian students learning Chinese.But for now,in the process of Chinese teaching,students often have deviations in the understanding of synonyms,and the phenomenon of mixed use often occurs in the process of use.In response to this situation,this article takes students at the advanced stage of the Confucius Institute at Nnamdi Azikwe University as the survey object,selects some synonyms that are often used in Chinese learning,and investigates the grasp of synonyms in Nigerian Chinese learners From this,we obtain the degree of concern and application of the students under investigation on the synonyms in the daily learning process,and then understand the main types and causes of the acquisition of Chinese synonyms in Nigerian students,so as to make targeted improvements to teaching.Through this research,it can be found that Nigerian advanced students will make mistakes in semantic,pragmatic and syntactic use in the process of learning Chinese synonyms;through analysis of the causes of their acquisition problems,it can be found that Nigerian students use Chinese synonyms.The causes of the problem include:negative transfer of mother tongue knowledge,excessive generalization of target language rules,improper selection of teaching materials,improper teacher teaching methods and learner learning methods,etc.Therefore,this article selects from textbook selection,student learning and teacher teaching according to these causes.Several aspects have been put forward specific suggestions for improvement to reduce Nigerian students’problems in learning Chinese synonyms.
