Objective(s):This study aimed to explore the correlation between serum uric acid levels and body fat tissue distribution in patients with different glucose metabolism. Methods:In this study,166 admitted in the Department of Endocrinology,The First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University were enrolled.Among them, there were 43 subjects with normal glucose tolerance(NGT),22 subjects with impaired glucose regulation(IGR),and 101 subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).We collected basic information of all cases, including gender, age, ethnicity, past history, height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, blood pressure and other information and calculate body mass index,waist-to-hip ratio, blood uric acid, fasting blood sugar, triglycerides, fasting Insulin, total cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, insulin and C-peptide,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, glycated hemoglobin, serum creatinine, etc.By using a dual bioelectrical impedance analyzer,we measured visceral adipose tissue(VAT)and subcutaneous adipose tissue(SAT),and calculated VAT+SAT,and VAT/SAT.Using the HOMA model to calculate, insulin resistance index(Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance,HOMA-IR),isletβcell function(Homeostasis model assessment-β,HOMA-β),and the insulin sensitivity index(insulin sensitivity index,ISI),to explore the relationship between SUA levels and fat distribution in people with different glucose metabolism.Results:1.The relationships among blood uric acid, fat distribution and other clinical indicators in NGT group(1)SUA levels was positively correlated with Height,Weight,BMI,Fat Content(%),FMI,VAT,SAT,VAT+SAT,Smoking Index,WC,HC,WHR,SBP,DBP,CCr(P<0.05).(2)VAT was positively correlated with Weight,BMI,Fat Content(%),FMI,SUA,SAT,VAT+SAT,WC,HC,WHR,CP 0,Scr,TC,FCHOL,TG(P<0.05),VAT and HDL-C Negatively correlated(P<0.05).(3)SAT was positively correlated with Weight,BMI,Fat Content(%),FMI,VAT,SUA,VAT+SAT,WC,HC,INS 30,INS 120,CCr,Scr,TG(P<0.05),and VAT/SAT,HOMAβ,SAT and HDL-C were negatively correlated(P<0.05).(4)The subjects in the NGT group were divided into the normal VAT group and the excessive VAT group according to whether the VAT area exceeded 100 cm2.In normal VAT group,SUA was positively correlated with Height,Weight,Fat Content(%),SAT,VAT+SAT,Smoking Index,WC,SBP,DBP,Cys C,and TG(P<0.05).SUA in the excessive VAT group was positively correlated with Weight,BMI,VAT,VAT+SAT,and DBP(P<0.05).2.The relationships among blood uric acid, fat distribution and other clinical indicators in IGR+T2DM group(1)SUA levels and VAT,SAT,VAT+SAT,Height,Weight,BMI,Fat Content(%),FMI,WC,WHR,FINS,INS 30,INS 120,CP 0,CP 30,CP 120,HOMAβ,ALB,Scr,Cys C,FCHOL,TG were positively correlated(P<0.05),and Hb A1c,Glu 120,HDL-C,GFR were negatively correlated(P<0.05).(2)VAT levels and SUA,SAT,VAT+SAT,VAT/SAT,Weight,BMI,Fat Content(%),FMI,WC,HC,WHR,DBP,FINS,INS 120,CP 0,HOMAIR,CCr,UAER,TP,ALB,Scr,TC,FCHOL,TG were negatively correlated(P<0.05),and HOMA-ISI,HDL-C were negatively correlated(P<0.05).(3)SAT levels and SUA,VAT,VAT+SAT,VAT/SAT,Weight,BMI,Fat Content(%),FMI,WC,HC,WHR,FINS,INS 30,INS 120,CCr,TP,GLB,TC,FCHOL,TG was positively correlated(P<0.05),and A/G was negatively correlated(P<0.05).(4)The subjects in the IGR+T2DM group were divided into the normal VAT group and the excessive VAT group according to whether the VAT area exceeded 100cm2.In the normal VAT group,SUA was positively correlated with Height,Weight,BMI,VAT,VAT+SAT,WHR,FINS,INS 30,INS 120,CP 0,CP 30,CP 120,Scr,TG,and ALB(P<0.05).SUA was negatively correlated with Glu 120 and GFR(P<0.05).SUA in the excessive VAT group was positively correlated with FMI,VAT,VAT+SAT,FINS,CP-0,HOMAβ,FCHOL,and TG(P<0.05).SUA was negatively correlated with Age(P<0.05)Conclusion(s):1.In this study, male VAT was significantly higher than female, suggesting that gender has an impact on VAT.2.In this study, the SUA levels of men was significantly higher than that of women, suggesting that gender has an impact on SUA[53].3.This study found that SUA was positively correlated with BMI regardless of NGT group or IGR+T2DM group,It suggested that the total body weight had a significant effect on SUA.4.In this study,it was found that the VAT of the IGR+T2DM group was significantly higher than that of the NGT group,It is suggested that VAT has an effect on glucose metabolism[61,62].5.This study found that in the IGR+T2DM group,SUA was positively correlated with TG,F-CHOL,negatively correlated with HDL-C,and had no significant correlation with TC,LDL-C;while in the NGT group,SUA was correlated with TG,F-CHOL There was no significant correlation among TC,F-CHOL,HDL-C,and LDL-C;it suggested that the relationships among SUA and blood lipids was not the same in different glucose metabolism groups.6.Whether in the NGT group or the IGR+T2DM group,SUA was positively correlated with VAT and SAT.In the NGT group, there was no significant correlation among SUA and VAT in the VAT normal group, and there was a positive correlation among SUA and VAT in the excessive VAT group;while in the IGR+T2DM group, regardless of the VAT normal group or the excessive VAT group,SUA was related to VAT,and this correlation was especially obvious in the excessive VAT group, suggesting that body fat distribution in different glucose metabolism states has an impact on SUA.
