| Intimate partner violence and suicide,as major public health events,have always been the focus of scientific.In recent years,the tragic suicide of college students caused by intimate partner violence is often reported.Exposure to intimate partner violence could bring negative mental health consequences such as depression and anxiety to college students and even lead to the suicidal risk.It is urgent to carry out relevant studies among college students.This study explored the impact mechanism of the influence of intimate partner violence on suicidal risk among college students,and included depressive symptoms as mediating variables and distress intolerance as moderating variables into the model for analysis.The research on the internal mechanism of the relationship between intimate partner violence and suicidal risk is of great significance for the prevention and intervention of college student’s suicidal risk.The study includes two parts,specifically as follows:The first study was a quantitative study,which used psychometric method to complete two waves of follow-up surveys on 3784 college students with dating experience.The measuring instruments were Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationships Inventory,Patient Health Questionnaire-9,Distress Intolerance Scale and Suicidal Behaviors Questionnaire-Revised.SPSS 25.0 was used to test the moderated mediation model,and the results showed as follows:(1)The detection rate of psychological violence(T3)stage was 43.0%,the detection rate of physical violence(T3)was 7.0%,and the detection rate of suicidal risk(T4)stage was6.0%.The detection rate of physical violence(T3)was significantly different in gender,physical health level,smoking,BMI and drinking.The detection rate of psychological violence(T3)was significantly different in gender,residence,physical health level,smoking and drinking.The detection rate of suicidal risk(T4)was significantly different in gender and physical health level.(2)There were significant correlations among psychological violence(T3),physical violence(T3),depressive symptoms(T3),distress intolerance(T3)and suicidal risk(T4).Psychological violence(T3),physical violence(T3),depressive symptoms(T3)and distress intolerance(T3)positively predicted the suicidal risk(T4)of college students.The mediating effect of depressive symptoms(T3)between physical violence(T3)and suicidal risk(T4)was not significant.Depressive symptoms(T3)mediated significantly between psychological violence(T3)and suicidal risk(T4),and distress intolerance(T3)had significant moderating effects on the three pathways of the mediated model.The second study is a qualitative study,which used the interview method to conduct semi-structured interviews with 21 college students who were exposed to physical or psychological violence.The results of the first study were further supported by the analysis of Nvivo11.The intimate partner violence among college students is mainly psychological violence.After suffering intimate partner violence,respondents were more likely to experience depressive symptoms such as negative emotions,insomnia and suicidal risk.If the individual feels unbearable distress,it may increase depressive symptoms and suicidal risk to some extent.In addition,the interview also found that good social support and correct love concept are protective factors for suicidal risk of college students who exposed to intimate partner violence. |
