BackgroundMeconium aspiration syndrome is a common respiratory disease in neonates with a high fatality rate worldwide.Inflammation plays an important role in the pathogenesis of the disease.IL-35 and IL-6,as immunoregulatory factors, are closely related to meconium aspiration syndrome, and there is currently a lack of a quick and simple evaluation index for the severity of this disease in clinical practice. This paper discussed the correlation between IL-35,IL-6 and meconium aspiration syndrome.ObjectiveIn his paper,we examined the expression levels of serum IL-35 and IL-6 in patients with Meconium Aspiration Syndrome and the correlation between various factors, and explore the clinical value of its expression level in MAS.MethodsA total of 38 patients(13 with severe MAS,25 with mild MAS)and 39 healthy controls were enrolled in this study.Serum IL-35 and IL-6 levels were determined by elisa on the first day and the fifth day of admission.Besides, clinical indicators such as WBC,CRP,pH and Lac levels were collected in all subjects.Results1.The levels of serum IL-6 in the severe MAS group before treatment were higher than those in the mild MAS group and the control group(P<0.05).The levels of serum IL-35 in the severe MAS group before treatment were higher than those in the mild MAS group and the control group(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference in WBC、Lac、CRP and pH count among the groups(P<0.05).2.According to the ROC curve: the area under the curve(AUC)of IL-6 was0.825 the sensitivity was76.9%,and the specificity was76.0%.The AUC of IL-35 was0.869,the sensitivity was 84.6% and the specificity was 76.0%.3.Comparison of mild MAS group before and after treatment:The levels of IL-6and IL-35 before treatment were higher than those after treatment. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).4.Comparison of severe MAS group before and after treatment:The levels of IL-6 and IL-35 before treatment were higher than those after treatment. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionsSerum IL-35 and IL-6 levels are of certain value in the early identification of MAS.
