ObjectiveThe purpose of this research is to explore the clinical rules for the use of the Chai Hu formulae in the treatment of tumour diseases and related complications by Professor Wang Hixing,and to summarise a number of Professor Wang’s new clinical prescriptions for the treatment of tumour-related diseases.The aim is to explore Professor Wang’s clinical experience and academic thinking on the use of Chai Hu in the treatment of tumour-related diseases,with a view to further enriching the theory of Chai Hu in the treatment of tumour diseases and improving the clinical efficacy of the new formula.MethodsIn this study,by collecting patients treated by Professor Wang Hixing from August2021 to August 2022 at the outpatient clinic of Shanxi Provincial Institute of Chinese Medicine using Chai Hu class prescriptions,the specific case information was directly retrieved from the outpatient clinic system,and finally a total of 800 cases were collected,and the complete information of the patients’ basic information,complaints,symptoms,four diagnoses and symptoms,Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis,prescriptions and medicines in the cases were entered into the Chinese Medicine Inheritance Support Platform(V2.5)system,and through the statistical reporting function of the system,statistical reports are formed on the patient information,symptoms,Chinese and Western medicine diseases,and frequency of medicines in the case.Subsequently,the core symptom combinations and new prescriptions of the instructor’s use of the reconciling Chai Hu agent for tumour and related diseases were mined using the data analysis medical case analysis and prescription analysis functions.The final statistical results include general information,frequency statistics of Chinese and Western medical diseases,frequency of symptoms and symptom combinations,frequency of tongue and pulse,frequency of drugs and new prescriptions,and examples of common Western medical disease medication patterns.Results1.Basic patient information: 91 male patients and 91 female patients with an average age of 46 years.Middle-aged and elderly people aged between 41 and 60 years old are the main group.2.There are 4 types of tongue,5 types of moss and 7 types of pulse.The most frequent types of tongue and pulse are red tongue with white moss and stringy pulse;there are 190 types of symptoms and the top 7 most frequent symptoms are cough,dry mouth,weakness,light sleep,difficulty sleeping,shortness of breath and bitter mouth.3.Disease Diagnosis Statistics:There were 22 Western medical diseases,mostly respiratory cancers,with lung cancer,thyroid cancer and gallbladder cancer ranking in the top three,accounting for 46.2%,7.6% and 7.6% respectively;20 Chinese medical diseases,with the three most frequent ones being lung accumulation,accumulation and gall tumour in that order.4.Application of prescriptions: 181 herbs were involved,except Xiao Chai Hu Tang,the most commonly used in order were 14 herbs including Gui Zhi,Chao Bai Shao,Zhe Bei Mu,Fu Ling,Pai Jiang Huang,Oyster,Dragon Bone,Centipede and Wu Wei Zi.And 14 core combinations as well as 7 new prescriptions were obtained.Conclusion1.The core symptoms for which the tutor applied and reconciled the Chai Hu dose were cough,dry mouth and weakness,and the pathogenesis was summarized as an unfavourable pivot of Shao Yang and a deficiency of positive energy.2.There are 22 Western medical conditions and 20 Chinese medical conditions.Because the Shaoyang meridian involves many organs,Chai Hu is the main treatment for Shaoyang,but it is often used in combination with other meridians to treat other diseases.The specific efficacy of the Harmony Method also varies with the cause of the disease and the location of the disease,so the range of treatment is wide.3.The tutors often use Chai Hu Gui Zhi Tang with Zha Bei Mu as the core medicine for lung cancer;Chai Hu Gui Zhi Tang with Zha Bei Mu,San Ling,Curcuma and Fu Ling as the core combination for thyroid cancer;and Da Chai Hu Tang with San Ling,Curcuma,Piece of Ginger,Centipede and Xia Ku Cao as the core combination for gallbladder cancer.4.To summarise the new formula of Chai Hu commonly used by the instructors:Experienced formula for brain tumour-Chai Hu Hua Tan Tang;Experienced formula for laryngeal cancer-Chai Hu Li Yan Tang;Experienced formula for thyroid cancer and lymphoma-Chai Hu San Jie Tang;Experienced formula for pancreatic cancer and gallbladder cancer-Chai Hu Xie Re Tang.
