| Objective:To study the effect of vitrectomy combined with or without internal limiting membrane peeling on diabetic macular edema. Methods:From January 2019 to December 2022,66 DME patients(66 eyes in total)in Vitreoretinal Department of Shanxi Eye Hospital were retrospectively analyzed,including33 cases treated with PPV combined with ILM stripping and 33 cases treated with PPV surgery alone. The preoperative clinical characteristics of the two groups were analyzed, and the visual acuity and the recovery of macular edema before and after treatment were compared. Results:There were 66 eyes.During the 6-month follow-up,no patients had obvious intraoperative or postoperative complications.During the 6-month follow-up,the visual acuity of patients in the combined group increased from baseline 1.01±0.29 log MAR to0.61±0.26 log MAR(P<0.05),and the CMT decreased from preoperative 459.30 74.15 to238.58±51.8(P<0.01).In the control group, the visual acuity increased from baseline1.16±0.36 log MAR to 0.96±0.16 log MAR(p<0.05),and the CMT decreased from preoperative 450.12 71.36μm to 379.58 101.82μm(P=0.002)Conclusion:This study shows that PPV combined with ILM stripping can promote the recovery of macular anatomy and improve the visual function of DME patients.Further confirmation may require a large sample randomized controlled study to verify the results of this study. |
