| Malignant liver tumors have always been a hot and difficult issue in tumor treatment.Due to their late discovery, rapid progression, and often combined with other metastases, many patients have lost the opportunity for surgical resection when diagnosed.Traditional treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy have certain limitations, and the treatment of inoperable patients is even more difficult.Microwave ablation technology originated in the 1990 s and was initially used for the treatment of benign liver tumors. With the continuous development of technology, the application scope of microwave ablation technology has gradually expanded.Currently, microwave ablation technology has become one of the important means of interventional therapy. The microwave ablation treatment achieves the goal of tumor eradication with minimal trauma. There are reports that microwave ablation can stimulate the human immune response, further enhancing its anti-tumor effect. In recent years,it has been increasingly widely used in the treatment of liver tumors. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed the survival time, recurrence time,follow-up time, and pre-and post-operative values of white blood cells, red blood cells, hemoglobin, platelets, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils, alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),total bilirubin, and direct bilirubin in 53 patients with malignant liver tumors(tumors originated from the liver, stomach, pancreas,or colon)after microwave ablation treatment. Results: The average follow-up time of the cases was(884±616)days.During the follow-up process,19 cases experienced recurrence, with an average recurrence time of(774±638)days.The overall recurrence rate was 35.85%.Seven cases died, and the average survival time after microwave ablation was(930±436)days.The post-ablation white blood cell count was significantly higher than that before ablation, while platelets, red blood cells, and hemoglobin were significantly reduced.Neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils,ALT,AST,total bilirubin, and direct bilirubin all showed significant increases. Conclusion: This study analyzed the follow-up results of 53 patients with metastatic liver cancer and demonstrated the important role of microwave ablation in clinical treatment.Microwave ablation treatment has the advantages of good efficacy, low risk, good patient tolerance, few complications, and repeatability, and can effectively alleviate the disease and prolong patient survival. However,it should be noted that microwave ablation relies on ultrasound and ablation machines, and the proficiency of the doctor’s operation has a high dependence. The needle placement plan and intraoperative operation directly determine the thoroughness and effectiveness of ablation. At present, there are many advanced technologies, such as volume navigation and multimodal image fusion, which can be used as auxiliary technologies to improve the safety and completeness of ablation. With the continuous development of microwave ablation treatment, its role in the treatment of malignant liver tumors will become more and more important.Figure 2 Table 10 Reference 82... |
