Objective: To analyze the application value of T2-mapping sequence in the diagnosis of early osteoarthritis. Methods: We have collected 30 patients with clinical diagnose of early osteoarthritis(male8,female22,mean age 51.67 ± 8.74 years),and 30 healthy volunteers as the healthy control group(male 15,female15,mean age 24.72 ± 2.22 years).Knee scans were performed using GE signa architect 3.0T magnetic resonance scanner(General Electric Health Care US).The scanning sequences include routine knee MRI sequence and sagittal T2 mapping sequence.Scan images were transferred to GE AW 4.7image process station,ROI was manually delineated in the region of interest on the T2 mapping image and T2 values were recorded on different sub-regions of knee articular cartilage. Results: In patients with early knee osteoarthritis T2 values were significantly higher in anterior central femur, posterior part of posterior femur in lateral superficial zone, posterior trochlea in medial superficial zone, central tibia in lateral deep zone, posterior central femur, central tibia, posterior tibia compared with healthy group.Compared superficial and deep zone,T2 values were significantly higher in anterior trochlea, posterior trochlea, anterior central femur, posterior central femur, anterior part of posterior femur, posterior part of posterior femur, anterior tibia, central tibia, posterior tibia at the lateral superficial zone, and anterior central femur, posterior central femur, anterior part of posterior femur, posterior part of posterior femur, anterior tibia, central tibia, posterior tibia at the medial superficial and deep compartment.Besides, anterior trochlea in lateral superficial zone and anterior tibia in deep medial zone T2 values were lower than healthy group. These differences in EOA and normal healthy group has significant statistical difference with P<0.05.Conclusion: T2 mapping can accurately and objectively measure articular cartilage composition and can diagnose osteoarthritis early.
