Objective: Through the measurement and analysis of the upper airway morphology and maxillofacial region of Angle’s Class II Division 1,the differences of the upper airway in different genders and vertical facial bone types were thoroughly understood, and the correlation between the size of the maxillofacial region and the upper airway was explored, providing some reference for the clinical research of the upper airway and orthodontic treatment. Methods: 105 patients with Class II,Division 1 malocclusion were selected from the Department of Stomatology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from 2016 to 2022 to measure the sagittal width of the upper airway and the relevant measurement indicators of the dental and maxillofacial morphology, and analyze the relationship between the upper airway and the dental and maxillofacial. Results: PNS-S was higher in males than in females(P<0.01),and PNS-Aa and sp1-sp2 were higher in males than in females(P<0.05).There were differences in ph1-ph2 and va1-va2 in the middle and upper airways of different vertical bone types(P<0.05),in which ph1-ph2 low angle group and average angle group were higher than those of high angle group, there was no difference between low angle group and average angle group,va1-va2 average angle group was higher than those of low angle group and high angle group, and there was no difference between low angle group and high angle group. The average angle of va1-va2 in male upper airway was larger than that in high angle group and low angle group, and there was no difference between high angle group and low angle group(P>0.05).There was no difference in the measurement items of each part of the upper airway in women with different vertical bone types(P>0.05).SNA was positively correlated with PNS-S and sp1-sp2(P<0.01);SNB and SND were positively correlated with PNS-S,sp1-sp2,pas1-pas2,ph1-ph2(P<0.05),and negatively correlated with PNS-pl,pl-PNS-ANS(P<0.05);Y axis and FMA were negatively correlated with ph1-ph2(P<0.05);Li-Sn Pg ’was positively correlated with pl-PNS-ANS(P<0.05)and negatively correlated with pas1-pas2(P<0.05);L1-NB(mm)was positively correlated with PNS-pl,pl-PNS-ANS(P<0.05),and negatively correlated with pas1-pas2(P<0.01);L1-NB(°)was positively correlated with pl-PNS-ANS(P<0.05)and negatively correlated with pas1-pas2(P<0.05);CL was positively correlated with PNS-S,PNS-Aa,PNS-ad1,sp1-sp2,ve1-ve2,p1-p2,pas1-pas2,ph1-ph2(P<0.05);Z angle was positively correlated with pas1-pas2(P<0.05).Conclusion: The bone length and height of the male nasopharynx are larger than those of the female, the thickness of the soft palate is larger than that of the female, and the position of the soft palate is higher than that of the female. The sagittal width of the tongue and pharynx of the upper airway of low angle type and average angle type is greater than that of the high angle type, and the sagittal width of the throat and pharynx of the upper airway of the average angle type is greater than that of the low angle type and high angle type. The average angle of male upper airway laryngopharynx was larger than that of low angle and high angle. There was no difference in sagittal width of upper airway among different vertical bone types in women. There is a correlation between the upper airway morphology and the maxillofacial region in Class II Division 1.
