| Objectives To analyze the influencing factors of overweight and obesity, and further explore the mechanism of the influence of family rearing behaviors on overweight and obesity, the current study, based on the dual perspectives of children and their parents, was carried out among children from grade 1 to grade 6 in Tangshan city,so as to provide basic information for further rational planning of healthy diet and improving their healthy lifestyle of children and adolescents in Tangshan. Methods The cross-sectional study was adopted, and the questionnaire survey on children and their parents were conducted among children and adolescents in grades 1~6 in counties and districts of Tangshan. The unconditional logistic regression analysis used to screen out the relevant influencing factors of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents(P<0.05).The structural equation model was used analysis the mediating effect, that overweight and obese or not was taked as the dependent variable, and children’s dietary behavior, parental feeding behaviors and parental rearing style were taked as independent variables and intermediary variables. The 95%CI of effect value not containing zero acted as the evaluation condition of significant mediating effect. Results 1 A total of 2723 children and adolescents from grades 1 to 6 were included in this study,588 students were detected as overweight and obesity, and the incidence rate of overweight and obesity was 21.59%.Among them, there were 1438 boys and 1285 girls screened out as overweight and obesit, and the incidence of overweight and obesity were 26.77%and 15.80%respectively.2 Univariate analysis results showed that, there were significant differences in the detection rates of overweight and obesity among children and adolescents of different ages, gender, parental BMI,mode of delivery, breastfeeding, eating time, sleep time, outdoor activity frequency, video frequency, eating behavior and parental feeding behavior, the differences were statistically significant.(P<0.05).3 Multivariate logistic regression analysis results indicated that those children and adolescents were at greater risk of being overweight and obese, who sleep less(OR=0.779),eat less(OR=0.892),spend less time outdoors(OR=0.864),spend more time on screens(OR=1.121)and boys(OR=0.506).4 Two sets of structural equation models were constructed with mother and father as the dominant parenting style, respectively,to analyze the impact of family parenting behavior on overweight and obesity in children and adolescents. The χ2/df were 1.3926 and 3.7418,RMSEA were 0.0120 and 0.0317,CFI were 0.9924 and 0.9634,NFI were 0.9743 and 0.9517,TLI were 0.9800 and 0.9038,and IFI were 0.9926 and 0.9641,respectively,the parameters of the structural equation model met the standard value, and the model had high fitting degree.5 The results of the model dominated by father’s upbringing showed that the father’s rearing style had no significant effected on the BMI of children and adolescents(P>0.05),there were two main mediating effects of adolescent feeding behavior on children’s parental BMI,the intermediary effect value approach to food was 4.58%,the mediating effect of avoid food was 6.49%.The results of the model dominated by mother’s rearing style showed that maternal rearing style can indirectly affect the BMI of children and adolescents through multiple paths, the mediating effect of maternal rearing style on BMI of children and adolescents through parental feeding behavior is the most obvious, the intermediary effect value was 8.61%.Conclusions 1 Gender, age, parents with abnormal BMI,short meal time, insufficient sleep time, less outdoor activities and long video screen time are the risk factors of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents.2 Parents’ feeding behavior affected children’s overweight and obesity through children’s dietary behavior, maternal rearing patterns affected overweight and obesity in children and adolescents through feeding behavior.Combined with the mediation effect path test results,it could have provide a theoretical basis for the comprehensive prevention and treatment of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents from the perspective of family rearing behavior in the future.Figure 4;Table 27;Reference 139... |
