The Kubuqi Desert and Mu Us Sandy Land are distributed in Ordos, which is a typical arid and desertification area.In order to excavate the wild ornamental plant resources in this area, the method of literature review and field investigation was adopted to investigate the wild ornamental plant resources in the west of Ordos from the aspects of wild ornamental plant species, life type and water ecological type, ornamental characteristics and so on.And the analytic Hierarchy process(AHP)is used to evaluate its appreciation. It provides the basis and basic materials for the popularization and application of ornamental plants and urban landscape construction in Ordos and northwest China. The results are as follows:1.According to the investigation, there are 155 species of wild ornamental plants in 55 families,115 genera and 115 genera, including 3 species of gymnosperms in 2 families,2 genera and 152 species of angiosperms in 53 families and 113 genera. The dominant families include legumes(14 genera,23species),Compositae(13 genera,17 species),and Rosaceae(6 genera,9 species). The dominant genera are mainly Astragalus(5 species)and Allium(4 species). The living type is mainly herbaceous plants, followed by shrubs. The ecological types of water are mainly xerophytic and mesophytic. The flora has obvious temperate characteristics. In the family level analysis, there are 29 families of temperate distribution types and temperate distribution types in the world, accounting for 52.72% of the total floristic families. In the genus level analysis,54 genera were mainly distributed in temperate zone, accounting for 55.67% of the non-world genera. In the species level analysis, the plant species originated mainly in the temperate zone and were influenced by the Mediterranean Sea.There are 11 species of rare and endangered plants in 7 families,10 genera, mainly shrubs and herbs.2.Flowering plants of 117 species,87 genera,40 families. In terms of color,37 species of yellow plants were the most, followed by 26 species of white plants. In terms of corolla morphology, tube corolla had the largest number of species, followed by radial corolla. In terms of flower diameter, there were 3 kinds of large flowers(flower diameter >4cm),12 kinds of medium flowers(2.5cm< flower diameter <4cm),27 kinds of small flowers(1cm< flower diameter <2.5cm),11 kinds of miniature flowers(flower diameter <1cm)and 64 kinds of inflorescences. In terms of flowering time,94 species of flowering plants were found in summer, while only 3 species were found in autumn. There are 10 families,11 genera and13 species of foliage plants. In terms of leaf shape, there are three kinds of halberd-shaped leaves, all of which belong to convolvulaceae. The color of the leaves is most prominent in the salina, changing from green to orange-red or golden-yellow.There are 20 families,22 genera and 25 species of fruit plants. In terms of fruit type, stonefruit and berry had the largest number of species, with 6species each.In terms of fruit color, red has the most with 15 kinds, followed by yellow with 4 kinds. In terms of fruit, there were 21 species in summer and 4species in spring.3.The evaluation of wild ornamental plants in western Ordos was carried out through analytic hierarchy process. The 155 kinds of wild ornamental plants involved in the comprehensive evaluation were divided into 5 grades: There are 7species of class I wild ornamental plants, and these ornamental plants have the highest ornamental value, such as Spiraea trifid, hemicolor herb, hemicolor herb, mountain Lily, etc.,which are mainly perennial herbs and recommended to be developed and utilized in large numbers; There are 13 species of class II wild ornamental plants, including alfalfa, celestial fairy, liliensis,Leek mongolica, etc.,which have high ornamental value and are recommended for development and utilization. There are 71 species of wild ornamental plants in Class III,including Lycium barbarum,Acanthophora cypress, corydus prorosa, ribbon grass, etc.
