The aim of the study was to clarify the trapping effects of the colored sticky boards on the dominant species of pests such as Odontothrips loti,Lygus pratensis and Alfalfa aphids(including Acyrthosiphon pisum,Aphis craccivora and Therioaphis trifolii)in alfalfa field.Here,eight different colored sticky boards,two different hanging heights of 20 cm and 50 cm,two different hanging locations of edge and center of the alfalfa field,and four different hanging times in the morning(7:00-11:00),noon(11:00-15:00),afternoon(15:00-19:00)and evening(19:00-7:00 next day)were set in the growing alfalfa field in2021 and 2022,respectively.To investigate the attracting effect of different colored sticky boards and hanging methods for controlling the tarnished the dominant species of pests and natural enemies in alfalfa field;and the boards were hung in April 2022 when the alfalfa returned to green and continued until the last crop of alfalfa was harvested to investigate the population dynamics of the dominant species of pests during the one-year growing period of alfalfa;This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the feasibility of using colored sticky boards to control dominant species of pests in alfalfa,optimize the trapping technology of dominant species of pests using colored sticky boards,and provide theoretical basis and practical experience for the formulation of green pest control strategies in alfalfa fields.The main results are as follows:1.Trapping effect of colored sticky boards on Odontothrips loti and its natural enemiesO.loti has a strong tropism to the white sticky board,the average trapping number are293.10(2021)and 219.00(2022)individuals/one board respectively,and the white sticky board has minimal impact on its natural enemies,the benefit to harm ratio was 0.05;the trapping effect of white board hanging height at 50 cm was significantly higher than that at20 cm(P < 0.05);the trapping effect is the better when the sticky boards were set at the edge of the alfalfa field than that of the central section;the number of O.loti trapped at dusk is more than other times in one day.In the annual growth period of alfalfa,from the end of June to the middle of July,when Medicago sativa was in the second crop growth period,the maximum number of O.loti was attracted,the average trapping number are454.63 individuals/one board,and the damage peak was reached around July 13,the average trapping number are 623.50 individuals/one board;and the damage of O.loti in the budding stage of each crop was higher than that in other growth stages.2.Trapping effect of colored sticky boards on Lygus pratensisThe results showed that the green sticky board had the best trapping effects towards L.pratensis,the average trapping number are 9.41(2021)and 10.79(2022)individuals/one board respectively,significantly higher than the other seven color boards.The trapping effect of green board hanging height at 50 cm was significantly higher than that at 20 cm(P < 0.05);the trapping effect is better when the sticky traps were set at the edge of the alfalfa field than that of the central section(P<0.05);the number of L.pratensis trapped at afternoon is more than other times in one day.In the year,it was found that the damage of L.pratensis peaked in late May and late June;the most L.pratensis attracted in the second crop of alfalfa;and the number of L.pratensis was the highest in the budding stage of the first and second crop.3.Trapping effect of colored sticky boards on Alfalfa aphids and its natural enemiesThe blue sticky trap has a strong tropism to alfalfa aphids,the average trapping number are 57.23(2021)and 57.42(2022)individuals/one board respectively,it also has minimal impact on its natural enemies;the number of trapped alfalfa aphids is the largest at the suspension height of 50 cm;the trapping effect is the better when the colored sticky boards were set at the edge of the alfalfa field than that of the central section;the number of alfalfa aphids trapped at dusk is more than other test times in one day.In addition,it was found that from the middle of July to the end of July,population of alfalfa aphids was the highest;the second crop attracted more alfalfa aphids,and the damage of alfalfa aphids in the budding stage of each crop was higher than that in other growth stages.4.Design of utility model patentsIn order to optimize the colored sticky boards trapping technology,overcome the material defects of the colored sticky boards and environmental factors such as interference with the test,and to make comprehensive use of widely used physical prevention and control devices such as trap lights and sex traps,the research designed a utility model patent named "three-in-one fixture for installing pest physical trapping devices".
