Artificial breeding is the main source of sea urchin aquaculture in China.However,the traditional attaching substrate is not satisfactory for sea urchin artificial breeding,especially the damage in the stripping process.At present,off-shore cage-farming is one of the most popular methods in Strongylocentrotus intermedius aquaculture in China,with the technology upgrading of indoor factory culturing,the indoor factory culturing of sea urchin has been widely concerned.To verify the feasibility of soft plastic film in sea urchin artificial breeding,and indoor aquaculture,a comparative study was carried out on the traditional substrate and soft plastic film in the process of urchin seeds production,meanwhile,indoor industrialized cultivation and marine cultivation of two sizes seed(shell diameter 0.5cm and 2.0cm)were conducted.The results show that the soft plastic film has not significantly different from the traditional substrate in sea urchin breeding,but has significant advantages in survival and growth(p < 0.05);In the comparative study of the indoor factory and off-shore cultivation,under the same conditions,the large seeds(2cm)have significant advantages in growth and survival compared with the small ones(0.5cm,p < 0.05)after 12 months cultivation,and indoor factory ensured higher survival rate and growth(p < 0.05),while indoor factory also took more cost in practice than that of offshore cultivation.we suggest taking soft plastic film as a replacement for the traditional material in the sea urchin artificial breeding,and using larger size urchin seeds in farming practice.In addition,though sea urchins can be cultured in an indoor factory,it’s necessary to have an investment evaluation according to the production budget and breeding expectations.The results of this study provide a scientific reference for the technical innovation of artificial breeding and indoor factory culturing of sea artificial culture can use circulating aquaculture system to control water temperature,water quality,food and other conditions to improve the growth rate and quality of sea urchin.Marine cultivation is the use of the natural food chain,provide rich algae and organic matter as bait,increase the gonad index and taste of sea urchins;Compared with Marine cultivation,indoor artificial cultivation needs higher equipment and operation costs,while Marine cultivation is limited by the change of natural environment and pollution,there is a greater risk.At present,indoor artificial culture and Marine cultivation can be combined,according to different stages and objectives to choose the appropriate way,can realize the healthy cultivation of sea urchin in the middle ball.Attention has been paid to indoor farming of high-value seafood due to the advances of polyculture theory and indoor factory technology in aquacultures,such as sea urchin,abalone and sea cucumber.However,kelp is far from satisfactory in sea urchin artificial breeding,especially in the control of sea urchin growth and cost-profits.Two trials were carried out to verify long-term indoor breeding and culture with the compound feed of S.intermedius,of which trial A deployed an 8-month indoor seedling of urchin seeds with fresh algae and prepared feeds,and trial B conducted 12 months of indoor culturing with 4 prepared feeds.In this study,compound feeds show a better effect than kelp on the seedling and culture of S.intermedius.In addition,trial B shows that sea urchin cultured with abalone and the balanced mixing groups greatly improve the feed coefficient.To sum up,this study provides two polyculture methods in sea urchin farming and 3 potential compound feeds and gives a scientific reference for the technical innovation of long-term indoor breeding and indoor sea urchin farming. |
