In order to promote the whole mechanization process of corn and enhance the competitiveness of corn industry in mountainous areas of southwest China,a lightweight and simplified corn harvester header suitable for hilly areas of southwest China was developed in this paper.At present,majority of corn harvesters used in the hilly area of southwest China was made in Shandong,Hebei and other provinces.Practice has proved that these harvesters are large and bulky,which also have problems such as poor adaptability,low harvest efficiency,poor operation quality,and even hidden dangers of operation safety,thus these machines are not suitable for the hilly and mountainous area of southwest China.Therefore,a lightweight and simplified corn harvester header suitable for hilly areas of southwest China was developed in this paper.For the purpose of lightweight and simplification,a 2-row lightweight and simplified corn header was designed in this paper by using computer simulation and finite element analysis method,so as to adapt to mechanized harvest of corn in hilly areas.(1)Aiming at the lightweight design of the corn harvester header,through analyzing the structure and principle of the existing corn harvester header,the ear picking mode with stem pulling roller combined with ear picking plate was finally determined.During the operation,the reel star wheel is used for reel,plate type ear picking device is used to pick ear,the corn ear are conveyed to the auger by the middle conveyor belt.(2)Based on the knowledge of theoretical mechanics,mechanics of materials,and agricultural machinery,the key component of picking parts,cutting harvester header frame and drive system were developed and checked,finally the length and diameter of the stem roll with 674 mm and 70 mm respectively,roll clearance with 8mm,and the linear speed of the stem roll with 902 r/min were determined.(3)Applying genetic algorithm and finite element analysis,lightweight design of the cutting harvester header frame,gear box,picking roller and other key components were carried out,the total mass of designed harvester header is 342 kg,which is reduced by 118 kg and 34.5%,realizing the goal of lightweight and simplified design.(4)Bench experiments on the prototype showed that the rotating speed of pulling roller and the height of ear setting had significant effects on the grain loss rate and the grain loss rate of broken ear.When the rotation speed of pulling roller was 600 r/min,the lowest grain loss was obtained.
