In order to study the effects of Lycium Barbarum Polysaccharide(LBP)on serum biochemical indexes and gut microbiota of growth performance of Holstein calves. This experiment selected 48 Holstein calves with weight of(70±5)kg and daily age of(50±5)days,and randomly divided into 4 groups with 12 cattle calves.Test group 1(TG 1),test group 2(TG 2)and test group 3(TG 3)were supplemented with 5 g/d,10 g/d and 15 g/d LBP on the basis of control group(CON),respectively. The experiment lasted for 67 days.Effects of supplementation with different concentrations of Lycium Barbarum Polysaccharides supplementation on growth performance, average daily feed intake, feed gain ratio and apparent nutrient digestibility of calves. The results showed that:(1)The body weight of TG 2 group was the highest during the whole period of the experiment.with 0~60 days TG 2group weight 5.54% higher than the CON group(P<0.05),with 40~60 days and 0~60 days TG 2group ADG 16.15%、15.98% higher than the CON group(P<0.05).(2)There was no significant difference in body size among all groups during the whole trial period(P>0.05).(3)ADFI in TG 2group was 4.74% higher than that in CON group during 20~40 days(P>0.05).(4)F/G in TG 2group and TG 3 group was 16.78% and 17.43% lower than that in CON group during 40~60 days(P>0.05).(5)The digestive levels of CP,EE,Ca and P in TG 1 group were 21.62%,29.04%,25.46% and 25.92% higher than those in CON group,respectively(P<0.05).Effects of supplementation with different concentrations of Lycium Barbarum Polysaccharides on serum biochemical indexes of calves. The results showed as follows:(1)At 60 days, the serum ALB level in TG 2 and TG 3 groups was 7.71% and 8.42% higher than that in CON group,respectively(P<0.05).(2)At 60 days, the serum Ig A level in TG 2 and TG 3 groups was 8.42% and 10.77% higher than that in CON group,respectively(P<0.05);At 60 days, serum IL-6 levels in TG 2 group and TG 3 group were 14.81% and 13.45% higher than those in CON group,respectively(P<0.05).(3)At 60 days, the serum SOD level in TG 2 group was 4.22%higher than that in CON group(P<0.05);At 60 days, the serum ROS level in TG 2 group was7.03% lower than that in CON group(P<0.05).(4)At 60 days, serum IGF-1 level in TG 3 group was 13.54% higher than that in CON group(P<0.05).Effects of supplementation with different concentrations of Lycium Barbarum Polysaccharide on gut microbiota of calves. The results showed that:(1)Firmicutes and Bacteroidota were the dominant phyla at the phyla level, accounting for more than 90% of the total number of bacterial colonies.(2)At the genus level, the dominant bacteria belonged to Ruminococcus UCG-005,Rikenellaceae RC9 gut group,Prevotellaceae UCG-003,Bacteroides,Lachnospiraceae NK4A136 group,Alistipes, and Other clades. The abundance of Prevotellaceae UCG-003,Lachnospiraceae NK4A136 group and Prevotella in TG 2 group was 50.02%,52.94%and 70.19% higher than that in CON group,respectively(P<0.05).Conclusion:(1)Supplementation 5 g/d and 10 g/d LBP could increase body weight, average daily gain, average daily feed intake, digestibility and decreasing feed weight of calves;(2)Supplementation 10 g/d and 15 g/d LBP could increase the synthesis and secretion of ALB,Ig A and IL-6 in serum, increase the level of SOD,decrease the level of MDA and ROS in serum, and increase the level of GH and IGF-1 in serum.(3)Supplementation 10 g/d LBP could improve the relative abundance of Firmicutes and Bacteroidota in gut microbiota at phylum level, and the relative abundance of Bacteroidota,Ruminococcaceae,Rikenellaceae,Prevotella and Lachnospiraceae at phylum level. To sum up,added LBP can improve calf feed intake, digestibility and associated immune properties, oxidation resistance, growth hormone level, the abundant degree of beneficial bacteria in the gut, reduce feed gain ratio,to improve the purpose of nutrient metabolism and the growth performance of calves, and added 10 g/d and 15 g/d difference was not significant, the cost consideration, added 10 g/d is the best.
