Xinjiang is located in the arid and semi-arid region of China. In recent years, with the accelerated expansion of urbanization, continuous environmental degradation and unreasonable human use of cultivated land in China, the problems have become more and more serious, leading to obvious obstructive factors of cultivated land such as salinization, barrenness and sanding, and the quality of cultivated land is threatened. In order to ensure the efficient use of cultivated land resources in Xinjiang and reduce the harm caused by various obstacle factors to cultivated land, this study analyzes the soil nutrients of cultivated land in Xinjiang through GIS technology, and uses hierarchical analysis,Telfer method and fuzzy mathematics method to select 13 evaluation indexes for rank evaluation from four aspects of standing conditions, physical and chemical properties, soil nutrients and cultivated land management, which affect the quality of cultivated land. The obstacle degree model was introduced to diagnose the obstacle factors for middle and low-grade land in Xinjiang. The results of the studyfinding can provide reference for the improvement and construction of cultivated land in Xinjiang, and the results are as follows.(1)Soil organic matter and alkaline nitrogen are of medium grade in Xinjiang, with average contents of 15.49 g/kg and 64.3 mg/kg;effective phosphorus is of high grade, with average content of 14.7 mg/kg;fast-acting potassium is of high grade, with average content of 176 mg/kg.overall,the current status of soil nutrient content in Xinjiang is good, and compared with other regions, the soil nutrient content in Ili Prefecture is richer.Compared with other regions, the soil nutrient content of Ili Prefecture is richer.(2)The area of cultivated land in Xinjiang is about 524.23×10~4 hm~2,and the quality of cultivated land is divided into 10 grades from one to ten from high to low, among which the area of fourth grade is the largest, accounting for 16.66%,the area of tenth grade is the smallest, accounting for 2.49%,and the average grade is 5.65.The cultivated land areas of superior grade(first to third grade),medium grade(fourth to seventh grade)and low grade(eighth to tenth grade)accounted for 30.38%,54.10%and 15.52%of the total cultivated land area in Xinjiang,respectively.(3)The barrier factors affecting the quality improvement of cultivated land in Xinjiang mainly include the following indicators:salinization, organic matter, effective phosphorus, irrigation capacity and farmland forestry network. The degree of obstacles was divided into four levels:no obstacles, mild obstacles, moderate obstacles and severe obstacles, and it was found that mild and moderate obstacles were dominant in both medium and low land, and each region showed more obvious differences. It is more difficult to improve the quality of cultivated land from medium to excellent land, but relatively easy to improve from low to medium land.
