Tea is one of the important economic crops in my country, during the tea production process, tea tree diseases and insect pests will seriously threaten the yield and quality of tea.Tea leaf weevil is one of the most important leaf-eating pests on tea trees, and when it breaks out,it can greatly reduce the production of tea gardens.Tea farmers are not only the main body to bear the outbreak disaster of tea leaf weevil, but also the main body to take prevention and control coping behavior. The risk perception level of tea farmers on the outbreak of tea leaf weevil will affect their coping behavior, and the coping behavior determines the prevention and control effect. If tea farmers have a high risk perception of the outbreak of tea leaf weevil, tea farmers may take extreme measures to prevent and control, which will damage the ecological security of the tea garden and the local environment, and is not conducive to the development of tea production. Therefore, this study selected tea farmers in Wuyishan area with serious outbreak of tea leaf weevil in Fujian Province as the research object to study the risk perception and coping behavior of tea farmers to the outbreak of tea leaf weevil,in order to accurately evaluate the risk perception level of tea farmers, enhance the risk coping ability of tea farmers, guide tea farmers to adopt correct and reasonable disaster coping behaviors for the outbreak of tea leaf weevil, and provide guidance for government departments to formulate scientific and perfect decision-making for risk coping to the outbreak of tea leaf weevil and establish an effective risk communication mechanism. From the perspective of tea farmers’ risk perception,by consulting the relevant literature on risk perception and coping behavior at home and abroad, and based on the social amplification theory of risk, risk perception theory and farmers’ behavior theory, this study constructs the theoretical model of "risk perception-coping behavior" of tea farmers for empirical analysis and hypothesis verification.A total of 342 valid sample data were obtained by questionnaire survey.Descriptive statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, independent sample T test,one-way Anova, correlation analysis, structural equation model, mediation effect analysis and other methods were used to analyze the sample data. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The risk perception of tea growers to the outbreak of tea leaf weevil is at an upper-middle level, the risk perception level of tea farmers’ income threat is the highest, and the risk perception level of tea garden ecological environment threat is the lowest.(2)There are significant differences in the risk perception of tea farmers on the outbreak of tea leaf weevil in age, education, planting time and disaster experience.Tea farmers aged 51-60,educated in high school(technical secondary school),planting time 21-30 years and having disaster experience have a higher level of risk perception. The risk perception of tea farmers on the outbreak of tea leaf weevil has no significant difference in gender, planting area and labor force.(3)Information reflecting the severity of the outbreak of tea leaf weevil has a positive impact on risk perception;the familiarity of tea farmers with the outbreak of tea leaf weevil has a negative impact on risk perception;the control degree of tea farmers on the outbreak of tea leaf weevil has no significant impact on risk perception;the degree of trust of tea farmers in government departments and experts negatively affects risk Perception;the level of risk perception directly affects the public’s willingness to adopt defensive coping behaviors and proactive coping behaviors.(4)The severity information with risk perception as the mediating variable has a significant positive indirect effect on both defensive coping behaviors and positive coping behaviors;the familiarity with risk perception as a mediating variable has a significant negative indirect effect on both defensive coping behaviors and positive coping behaviors;the degree of trust with tea perception as a mediating variable has a significant negative indirect effect on both defensive coping behaviors and positive coping behaviors;however, the degree of control with risk perception as the mediating variable has no significant indirect effects on defensive coping behaviors and positive coping behaviors. Finally, according to the research conclusions, targeted suggestions and measures are put forward from five aspects: establishing information dissemination channels, increasing prevention and control response propaganda, strengthening effective risk communication, ensuring the main position of prevention and control, and implementing targeted prevention and control measures.
