| The neighbor interaction between female and male is one of the important contents of the interaction in dioecious plant, which affects the stability of population and community. In this experiment,we investigated the effects of different sex combination patterns(F-F*-F,M-F*-M,F-F*-M,F-M*-F,M-M*-M and F-M*-M.F,female;M,male;*,N donor)and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)on nitrogen transfer of female and male of Morus alba, using the technique of 15N labelling.By comparing the differences in morphology, biomass, nutrient contents and nitrogen transfer between female and male seedlings of different sex combinations in 12 treatments,it is proposed to reveal the mechanism of nitrogen transfer between female and male seedlings and their response to AMF inoculation, thus providing theoretical reference for further study of the intraspecific relationships of dioecious plants. The main results were as follows:1.Effects of different sex combination patterns and AMF inoculation on nitrogen transfer of female and male of mulberryDifferent sex combination patterns had effects on nitrogen transfer between male and female of mulberry. When female seedlings were N donors, the amount of nitrogen transfer to the neighbor plant F was significantly greater than that to the neighboring plant M in the combination patters of F-F*-F,M-F*-M and F-F*-M.When male seedlings were N donors, there was no difference in nitrogen transfer to the neighbor plant F or M in the combination patterns of F-M*-F and M-M*-M,and the amount of nitrogen transfer to the neighbor plant F was greater than that to M in the combination pattern of F-M*-M.In addition,AMF inoculation had significant effects on nitrogen transfer between female and male of mulberry. When female seedlings were N donors,AMF significantly reduced the amount of nitrogen transfer to the neighbor plant F in the combination patterns of F-F*-F,M-F*-M and F-F*-M,decreased by 93.37%and 80.28%(When plants on both sides are of the same sex,the value is the average value of the two plants, the same as below),respectively, while significantly increased the amount of nitrogen transfer to neighbor plant M,by increased 220.92%and 1697.57%,respectively,and the amount of nitrogen transferred to F was significantly less than that of neighboring plant M among the F-M*-M.When male seedlings were N donors, the amount of nitrogen transfer to the neighbor plant F or M in the combination patterns of F-M*-F and M-M*-M increased by 225.03%and 206.55%,respectively,and the neighboring plant F in F-M*-M significantly increased by 310.96%after AMF inoculation. The amount of nitrogen transfer to F was greater than that to M among the F-M*-M.2.Effects of different sex combination patterns and AMF on the morphology and biomass of female and male of mulberryMost of sex combination patterns had no effect on the growth of aboveground and root morphology, biomass accumulation of female and male of mulberry. However, the net increase in plant height of neighboring plant F in F-F*-F and M-F*-M was significantly greater than that of neighboring plant M.AMF inoculation significantly promoted the above-ground part of morphological growth and biomass accumulation of female and male of mulberry, but decreased the ratio of root and total dry mass and the ratio of root and dry weight of above-ground part. The effects of AMF inoculation on root morphology were related to sex combination.AMF inoculation promoted the growth of root morphology of neighbor plant M in patterns of F-F*-M and F-M*-M,and the promotion intensity of AMF inoculation on root morphology of neighbor plant F under the pattern of F-M*-M was less than that of neighbor plant M.3.Effects of different sex combination patterns and AMF on carbon and nitrogen content of male and female of mulberryMost sex combination patterns had no effect on the carbon and nitrogen contents of root, stems and leaves of female and male of mulberry, but the leaf carbon content of the neighbor plant F in the patterns of F-M*-F and M-M*-M were significantly greater than that of the neighboring plant M,and the stem nitrogen content is significantly less than that of the neighbor plant M.The effect of AMF inoculation on the carbon and nitrogen content of plant roots, stems and leaves were related to the sex combination.AMF significantly reduced the carbon and nitrogen content of the roots and stems of neighbor plants F and M in the patterns of F-F*-F and M-F*-M,and significantly reduced the nitrogen content of the roots and stems of the neighbor plants F and M in the pattern of F-F*-M.AMF significantly reduced the nitrogen content of the roots and stems of neighboring plants F and M in the patterns of F-M*-F,M-M*-M and F-M*-M.In addition, the nitrogen utilization efficiency of female and male increased significantly after inoculation with AMF no matter what sex combination. The above results indicated that AMF inoculation significantly affects the growth and the neighbor interaction of female and male of mulberry, which was related to the influence of AMF on the direction and intensity of nitrogen transfer between female and male neighbors. The differences in the effects of AMF inoculation on nitrogen transfer between female and male under different sex combinations, the differences in root morphological growth, and the differences in carbon and nitrogen content, all provided a theoretical basis for the inoculation of AMF to regulate the relationship between dioecious plants. It can also provide technical reference for the cultivation and management of mulberry. |
