Advancing the recycling of industrial solid waste is an important aspect of green transportation.Currently,in China,there is a huge amount of waste tires with low recycling rates.Some highway construction projects have attempted to use waste tires for slope protection on highway slopes to replace traditional engineering protection,which can save engineering costs and accelerate construction progress.However,the arrangement form,design parameters,and construction technology of waste tire slope protection are not yet perfect,which limits the large-scale application of waste tires in transportation infrastructure construction.The paper first analyzes the mechanism of rainfall erosion damage to highway slopes.From the perspective of response mechanism,it conducts research on the traditional protection form and existing waste tire protection projects and selects the arrangement form of waste tire slope protection in a zigzag pattern.Regarding whether to set a water interception zone at the top of the slope,it comprehensively determines the slope layout parameters of waste tires in a zigzag pattern(longitudinal spacing,transverse width,oblique angle,etc.)using hydrological and hydraulic calculations,Geo Studio seepage field simulation,and PFC particle flow simulation.Then,through the analysis of the selection principle of waste tire models,the mechanical stability of tires on slopes,and the anchoring ability of anchor bolts,the slope fixing method of waste tires is determined based on the standard of downward force.After referring to the construction experience of similar protection projects,it summarizes the construction process and quality control technology of waste tire slope protection in a zigzag pattern.Based on the research of slope greening plant species and analysis of cultivation and selection principles,considering factors such as plant aesthetics,growth,and cost,the AHP hierarchical analysis method is used to determine the plant configuration scheme.Finally,relying on the Menglv high-speed highway in Yunnan Province,the layout parameter scheme,fixing scheme,and greening scheme design and construction are carried out on the sections of the road with/without a water interception zone and the high embankment slope,and the greening and erosion prevention effects are verified through post-construction research on the slope surface and tire fixing status.The social,economic,and environmental benefits are analyzed.This study combines the recycling of waste tire resources with the ecological protection of slope surfaces,selects the zigzag waste tire slope protection form,clarifies its scope of application,arrangement form,construction technology,and actual benefits,effectively replacing traditional slope protection projects.It has important value in reducing construction and maintenance costs,accelerating construction progress,and promoting the reuse of solid waste resources.The unity of slope protection and ecological benefits is of great significance for promoting the reuse of solid waste resources and environmental protection,expanding the breadth/depth of green transportation development,and promoting high-quality development of transportation and logistics.
