As one of the strategic emerging industries in China’s current development,the new energy industry is a key support for achieving energy structure upgrading and economic development transformation.However,the ecological foundation of China’s new energy industry is relatively fragile,and its resource layout and configuration logic do not conform to the laws of industrial development.By analyzing the ecological position of the new energy industry,we can better understand its status and role in the ecosystem,and unify it with the industry’s profitability in one analytical framework,accurately grasping the impact of the ecological position of the new energy industry on its profitability,which is of great practical significance for improving the efficiency and development potential of the new energy industry.First of all,this dissertation collects the panel data of China’s new energy listed companies from 2013 to 2020,measures the new energy industry through the niche width,overlap and niche situation model,and conducts cluster analysis from the industrial level and the provincial(urban)regional level.Secondly,the profitability of the new energy industry is measured and analyzed,and the regression model of industrial niche and industrial profitability is determined by Stata software.On this basis,the Shapley value method is used to decompose its contribution to industrial profitability.The results show that :(1)On the new energy industry niche,from the industrial level comparative analysis,the smart grid niche width is the widest,and the biomass energy industry is the narrowest;the niche overlap index of solar energy industry and smart grid is the highest,and that of biomass energy and nuclear power industry is the lowest.The ecological niche situation of smart grid is the highest,and the biomass energy industry is the lowest.From the comparative analysis of provincial(urban)level,Guangdong Province has the widest niche breadth;the niche overlap between provinces(urban areas)in China,more than0.8 of the overall proportion of 0.51;in the niche situation dimension,the niche situation advantages of the southeast coastal provinces and cities are obvious.(2)As for the contribution of new energy industry niche to industrial profitability,the contribution of niche breadth,niche overlap and niche situation to industrial profitability is positive.Among them,niche overlap has the greatest contribution,showing a fluctuating upward trend.The contribution of niche breadth is in the second place,but the trend of fluctuation is decreasing.The contribution of the niche situation is the smallest,showing a downward-upward cycle trend;and their contribution to industrial profitability in different provinces(municipalities)is different.
