China’s high-speed rail network construction and development has experienced from scratch, technology introduction to independent innovation, and now China’s high-speed rail technology has gone to the world and has become one of the "business cards" of China’s development. With the proposal of the "Medium and Long-term Railway Network Plan",the construction of China’s high-speed railway network has become increasingly perfect, and high-speed rail has gradually become the dominant position in the comprehensive transportation system, reconstructing the pattern of economic development and leading the social and economic construction. At the same time, the high-speed rail network also provides a new and faster and more convenient way for tourists to travel, and high-speed rail has become a new "booster" for tourism construction. Therefore, this paper focuses on the scientific issue of "the impact of the high-speed rail network on the urban tourism economy and its internal mechanism".The following considerations are made around this issue: First, what indicators are used to characterize the convenience of high-speed rail travel in node cities. The second is the impact of the opening of the high-speed rail on the city’s tourism economy. The third is how strong is the effect of high-speed rail in expanding the tourist hinterland of tourist cities.Fourth, what is the spatial pattern of the coupling and coordination between China’s high-speed rail network and urban tourism economy?Based on the above research background, the number of "cities and trains" obtained by weighted summation is used to characterize the degree value of node cities in the high-speed rail network, that is,the convenience of high-speed rail access. The urban high-speed rail travel convenience index and urban tourism economic index were included in the fixed-effect model for analysis.Combined with several typical cases, the effect intensity of high-speed rail network to expand the source hinterland of tourist cities was analyzed. Finally, the temporal and spatial evolution pattern of China’s high-speed rail network and urban tourism economy coupling and coordination is analyzed, and the relevant conclusions are as follows:(1)China’s high-speed rail network is mainly distributed east of the Huanyong Line, showing a "diamond-shaped" high-speed rail convenient network distribution pattern. The convenience of high-speed rail in China’s cities is increasing year by year, and it is developing rapidly during the formative period of "four vertical and four horizontal" high-speed rail networks to the expansion period of "eight vertical and eight horizontal".Cities with high ease of high-speed rail are mainly distributed east of the Huanyong Line, and gradually form a "diamond-shaped" high-speed rail convenient network distribution pattern with BeijingTianjin,Chengdu-Chongqing,Guangzhou-Shenzhen and Shanghai-Hangzhou as the apex.(2)The construction of high-speed rail network has promoted the development of urban tourism economy. The convenience of urban high-speed rail, per capita GDP,tertiary industry contribution, proportion of tertiary industry employees and urban tourism resource endowment all have significant positive effects on the average consumption level of tourists, urban domestic tourism revenue, and urban domestic tourist arrivals. The impact of urban openness intensity on the average consumption level of tourists, urban domestic tourism revenue and urban domestic tourist number did not pass the significance test.(3)High-speed rail expands the scope of tourist source hinterland of tourist cities, which has a significant temporal and spatial compression effect.Within the same time threshold, the number of cities covered by high-speed rail source hinterland is significantly more than that of highways, and the increase in source hinterland in larger cities is much greater than that of cities with lower scale levels. The highway isochronous presents a concentric circle spatial structure centered on the city, while the railway isochronous presents a spatial structure radiating to the periphery along the high-speed rail line. The temporal compression effect of high-speed rail is positively correlated with the scale of the city level, that is,the larger the scale of the city level, the more significant the spatiotemporal compression effect of the isotemporal circle of highspeed rail, and the spatiotemporal compression effect between cities with direct train trips is particularly obvious.(4)The coupling and coordination degree of high-speed rail network construction and coordinated development of tourism economy is showing an increasing trend year by year, but the overall level is low;in terms of spatial distribution, the main cities of the urban agglomeration are the highest coordination level, and the coordination level is decreasing towards the surrounding cities.,which is the same as the urban highspeed rail convenience pattern, and also forms a "diamond" spatial distribution pattern. In summary, the high-speed rail network has profoundly affected the development of urban tourism. The increase in the convenience of urban high-speed rail has shortened the travel time of tourists, reconstructed the tourism market pattern, and expanded the hinterland of tourist sources of tourist cities, thereby increasing the tourism revenue of tourist destinations.
