Transcranial pulse current stimulation is a new type of neuromodulation technology, which has been paid close attention by researchers in the field of neuroscience at home and abroad due to its characteristics of stimulating deep brain regions. This paper presents the technical specifications of a transcranial pulse electrical stimulator, and carries out the overall design of the hardware and software of the instrument. The design requirements of current intensity range: 0 m A-5 m A,pulse repetition frequency: 0 Hz-100 Hz,pulse duration: 50 ms-500 ms,continuous working time: ≥ 3 h,control mode:manual control mode and remote control mode are achieved. The test results show that the parameters meet the core design requirements of constant pulse current output. In order to determine the effect of transcranial pulse electrical stimulation on neurotransmitters,a one week swimming exhaustion model animal experiment was designed to study the changes of the contents of 5-Hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)and dopamine(DA),two typical neurotransmitters in the blood of rats. There were 9 Sprague Dawley(SD)rats in the animal experiment, and 3 of them received transcranial pulse electrical stimulation. In the experimental group, after receiving transcranial pulse electrical stimulation, the content of DA in the blood of rats increased significantly with time, and the content of 5-HT decreased significantly with time.In the observation group and the control group, the contents of DA and 5-HT remained unchanged during the experiment. The DA content of the control group was significantly lower than that of the experimental group and the observation group, while the 5-HT content was significantly higher than that of the experimental group and the observation group. These results indicate that transcranial pulse electrical stimulation can significantly regulate the contents of serotonin and dopamine.
