The Great Wall is an ancient military defense project with the longest cumulative construction time and the largest engineering volume in China and the world, and has high research value.Since the 1980 s,attention has been paid to the protection of the Great Wall Cultural Heritage Site.Subsequently, many protection efforts have been implemented, and relevant research achievements have been effectively enriched. However, based on the current research status at home and abroad, the focus of the Great Wall protection research is mostly on the construction materials, structural characteristics, historical information, and other ontology-related content of the Great Wall. For the biological element “current plants on the top surface of the Great Wall”,a series of issues on how to screen and deal with them have not been effectively resolved.Currently,it is a critical period for the construction of the Great Wall Cultural Belt and the Great Wall Cultural Park.Focusing on the treatment of plants on the top of the Great Wall wall can help accelerate the protection and construction process of the Great Wall cultural relics and accelerate the dissemination of the cultural value of the Great Wall.In order to promote this project, the article takes the plants on the top of the Great Wall in Beijing Dazhuang Keduan as the research object, based on the concept of “Critical Restoration”,and from the perspective of the dual role of plants, carries out the evaluation and screening of plants on the top of the wall, and relies on the screening results system to answer the relevant questions about how to clean up the plants on the top of the wall and how to ensure their utilization. The main research contents are as follows:1.Investigate the current plants on the top surface of the Great Wall.A total of 36 plants were collected through measurement, data review, interviews, and other methods.Preliminary information on plants on the top of the wall is obtained through analysis of the composition, value, landscape, and damage impact of 36 plants.2.Using AHP analytic hierarchy process, construct a comprehensive impact assessment index system for plants on the top of the Dazhuang section chief’s city wall.Based on relevant research results and field investigations, three constraint layer index factors,C1 plant growth characteristics,C2 plant destructive effects, and C3 plant application value,as well as P1 plant growth characteristics,P7 impact on near-side wall destruction, and P10 historical and cultural values, were selected from three aspects: plant characteristics, positive effects of plants, and negative effects of plants. Finally, through the collection of expert questionnaires, the weight values of each evaluation index that meet the consistency test were calculated.3.Formulate evaluation criteria for the comprehensive impact assessment index system of plants on the top surface of the Great Wall.Define four score ranges of 5,3,1,and 0 for each level of indicator factor.Through comprehensive scoring, obtain the comprehensive score value of the plants on the wall top surface and the score classification level.Based on the analysis of the cause of formation of the score grade results,a comprehensive recommendation for selective cleaning of plant species was finally obtained.4.Propose corresponding measures and suggestions based on the current situation and evaluation results.Among them, different removal technology suggestions are proposed for the combination status of plants that need to be removed and their ecological attributes;Propose technical or policy recommendations for the protection and utilization of plants that need to be preserved, and provide innovative exploration ideas for subsequent research on the cleaning of plants on the top of the Great Wall through the proposed preliminary recommendations.
