As the number of vehicles on the road increases rapidly,the safety of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians has become an important issue in the current traffic environment.V2X(Vehicle to Everything)technology,which enables real-time communication between vehicles,roads,and clouds,allows vehicles to quickly sense the status of road users and issue timely warning prompts to drivers.Therefore,the main objective of this study is to propose a vulnerable road user warning algorithm based on V2 X and to evaluate its effectiveness through experiments.Firstly,this paper reviews the research status of collision warning systems and identifies the limitations of traditional collision warning systems when there are vulnerable road users.To address the problem of blind spots in traditional in-vehicle perception,this paper deploys target detection as a V2 X roadside detection algorithm,reducing the requirements for vehicle perception and improving the algorithm’s perception capability in obstructed environments.In order to improve the accuracy of identifying traffic participants,this paper proposes a target detection algorithm based on an improved YOLOv5 s and attention mechanism.The experiments show that after introducing the GC attention mechanism,the algorithm is superior to the baseline algorithm in terms of identification accuracy and inference speed.Secondly,a V2 X and target detection-based traffic participant status maintenance method is proposed.By communicating in real-time with the roadside and in-vehicle devices,this method can maintain real-time and global status information of traffic participants,providing timely and accurate traffic data to the warning algorithm.Subsequently,a collision warning algorithm for vulnerable road users based on warning areas and safety rules is proposed.This method integrates traditional collision warning algorithms based on safety distance and safety time,and also sets corresponding safety rules for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians,bicycles,and motorcycles,as well as special road conditions,improving the applicability and accuracy of the algorithm.Finally,to evaluate the performance of the algorithm,a series of simulation experiments were conducted using the simulation engine CARLA.The experimental results show that compared with existing collision warning algorithms,the algorithm proposed in this paper can significantly improve the warning accuracy when there are vulnerable road users.In summary,this study demonstrates the potential of V2 X technology in improving traffic safety in scenarios with vulnerable road users and emphasizes the importance of considering the safety needs of vulnerable road users in designing collision warning systems.The effectiveness of the algorithm and the insights gained from this study are of great significance to the future development of collision warning systems and contribute to the broader goal of improving road safety for everyone.
