Research On The Control Of Campus Physical Space Elements By Campus Planning Documents Of British And American Universities From The Perspective Of Sustainable Development

With the idea of sustainable development being gradually introduced into the urban and architectural design,the university campus is an important part of the physical space in the city,how to make the university campus adapt to the needs and changes in different stages so as to achieve sustainable development has become an important proposition.At present,the sustainable development of Chinese university campuses has been paid more and more attention,but there is still a large gap in the implementation of the concept of sustainable development in campus planning and construction compared with European and American universities.From the perspective of sustainable development,this paper studies how to control the physical space elements of campus through planning documents to achieve sustainable development of campus.The first is the theoretical study of sustainable development theory and planning documents,and analyzes which elements of campus physical space they focus on at the theoretical level.The second is to select nine British and American university campuses for case studies,to sort out the content of each university campus planning document and the development of campus planning practice,and to study how three different concepts of university campus planning documents guide campus planning practice(top-to-bottom control,bottom-up control,and comprehensive control),and then discuss the concerns of these different concepts of planning documents on the theme of sustainable development and the control of the corresponding physical space elements.Through the study of the above cases,the basic structure and components of the campus planning documents of British and American universities are summarized into four parts: the review of campus planning history,the analysis of the current campus,the guidelines for campus planning,and the planning suggestions on other specific topics.The physical space elements of the campus and their control methods concerned in each part are summarized into three types of planning documents guiding campus planning: general planning type,progressive planning type and dynamic planning type.Finally,based on the above-mentioned summary of the basic structure and elements of the campus planning documents of the British and American universities,the Sipailou Campus of Southeast University is selected as an example to verify it.This paper attempts to derive the framework of planning documents for the green renewal of the campus space in the Sipailou Campus of Southeast University from the perspective of sustainable development,and hopes to provide some references for the sustainable development of Chinese university campuses.
