Among the various components of urban expressway,the expressway weaving area plays the role of connecting expressway and other roads.The interwoven operation of traffic flow is easy to lead to traffic congestion and spread to the upstream and downstream sections of the expressway.Studying the operation characteristics of traffic flow in weaving area,determining the influence area of weaving area based on these characteristics,and then organizing the operation mode of traffic flow in weaving area more reasonably is of great significance to improve the traffic condition of urban expressway weaving area and give full play to the function of expressway.This paper introduces the definition and classification of weaving area,analyzes the common traffic flow indicators of weaving area and the action mechanism on the influence area.Through the traffic investigation of the weaving area in the East Inner Ring Road in Nanjing,this paper analyzes the operation characteristics of the traffic flow and calibrates the driving behavior parameters of the simulation model.According to the actual traffic flow characteristics,this paper constructs the micro simulation model of urban expressway weaving area by using VISSIM software,and selects the indicators reflecting the influence of weaving area on upstream and downstream and the operation of internal traffic flow by analyzing the speed mean,speed standard deviation,acceleration,lane changing behavior and traffic conflict.On this basis,the paper puts forward the concept about the influence area,takes the trend change point of the speed mean as the definition method of the upstream and downstream influence area,and takes the ordered clustering of the speed standard deviation as the definition method of the internal sub influence area,and analyzes the effect of different traffic indicators such as traffic volume,weaving flow ratio,weaving ratio and weaving area length on the influence area.After selecting the appropriate threshold of the influence area of the weaving area,the paper puts forward the traffic organization method considering the influence area.Then,this paper gives the traffic organization suggestions of the expressway weaving area,including the type of the weaving area,the number of lanes,the length of the weaving area,the setting of traffic signs,the setting of traffic markings,lane division,and the speed limit.
