Abstract/Summary:
Since entering the 21 st century,China’s economy has entered a golden period of development, but with the take-off of the market economy, the shortage of energy and environmental pollution have become important issues of concern to the world.Affected by the international environment and national policies, the traditional automotive industry has withstood a huge test, and the transformation of the automotive industry is imminent. In recent years, the Chinese government has vigorously promoted the reform of the energy system, comprehensively developed and promoted the new energy field, and put forward the "dual carbon" goal, demonstrating the country’s determination to reform the energy field. With the transformation of domestic and foreign automobile enterprises to invest in the field of new energy vehicles,in recent years, the Chinese government has also issued many favorable policies for the development of new energy vehicles, taking the development of new energy automobile industry as a national strategy.Under the firm leadership of Chairman Wang Chuanfu,BYD has adapted to the current situation, with the help of national policies,it has fully entered the new energy automobile industry, and achieved a bumper harvest of benefits and brands with its technological advantages. In the process of enterprise transformation investment, organizational inertia is an important factor inhibiting organizational transformation,so how did BYD overcome the resistance of transformation caused by organizational inertia and successfully transform the new energy vehicle industry? It can even become the vanguard of China’s new energy automobile industry. With such a question, this article will explore the process of BYD’s transformation and investment in new energy, study what kind of strength BYD has to carry out the transformation, and how to overcome the resistance caused by organizational inertia. This paper uses the theoretical research method and case study method, through theoretical research on the existing literature on investment strategy and organizational inertia, combined with the case study of BYD’s transformation investment strategy to invest in new energy vehicles,to analyze how BYD overcomes organizational inertia in the process of transformation investment. There are three main research contents in this paper.First,BYD conducted SWOT analysis and Porter’s five forces model analysis, combined with BYD’s own situation, analyzed BYD’s current investment strategy;Second, study how BYD relies on its own capabilities and external resources to overcome the investment model of inherent resources(resource rigidity);Third, how does BYD overcome the inherent resource use process(procedural rigidity)and ultimately transform the threat of transformation investment into investment opportunities.Through the analysis of this paper, sufficient financial strength, stable supply chain and broad customer market help BYD overcome resource dependence, and leadership ability,R&D ability and technology accumulation help BYD overcome in-place reinvestment,so that it can overcome the inherent resource investment model. The help of national policies and the core competitiveness of enterprises help BYD overcome the inherent resource use process;Technology, cost, strategy, and brand levels help BYD turn technology threats into investment opportunities. This paper combines the theory of investment strategy with the theory of organizational inertia, and attempts to analyze how enterprises can overcome organizational inertia and successfully transform investment, which has certain innovative significance at the theoretical level. In addition, taking BYD’s successful transformation as an example, combined with the actual analysis of how BYD does it in actual operation,it is hoped that it can play a certain role in helping the practical community and inspire more similar enterprises.
