Since the reform and opening up,with the rapid development of industrial society,China has entered a phase of rapid urban development, which has been accompanied by environmental pollution,large-scale urban expansion, waste of land resources and damage to the ecological environment. Therefore, the reasonable delineation of three zones and three lines, namely the red line for permanent basic agricultural land protection, the red line for ecological protection and the urban development boundary,is of great significance for ecological protection and curbing the disorderly expansion of cities and towns.among which, the reasonable delineation of the urban development boundary is a crucial part of the spatial planning of the country, and the theoretical research on its delineation needs to be further strengthened. In this paper,we attempt to take Wanquan District of Zhangjiakou City as the study area from the bilateral perspectives of urban development drivers and ecological constraints, and extract the ecological protection extremely important areas by evaluating the importance of ecological protection in Wanquan District of Zhangjiakou City, and extract the ecological corridors in Wanquan District based on circuit theory.ecological corridors, and comprehensively construct the ecological security pattern of Wanquan District,Zhangjiakou City. From the perspective of the city, based on the 2005 land use data and 2020 land use data,socio-economic factors, natural terrain topography factors and location factors are used as the driving forces of urban development, and logistic regression models are used to analyze the relationship between various land use changes and driving factors. The trend of land use change from 2005 to 2020 is analyzed, and the number of land use changes in the natural development scenario, ecological protection scenario, and arable land protection scenario is predicted by Markov model, and based on this, the spatial layout of various land uses under the three scenarios is predicted by FLUS model, and the most suitable urban development boundary delineation scheme is explored, with the intention of providing some suggestions for urban development boundary delineation. The main results are as follows. The main results of the study are as follows:(1)From 2005 to 2020,the arable land in Wanquan District of Zhangjiakou showed an increasing trend, with the arable land area increasing by 15.38%,the ecological land area showed a decreasing trend, decreasing by 21.5%,and the construction land increased a lot, increasing by 62%.In general, the increase of arable land and construction land is at the expense of ecological land.(2)The land use layout of Wanquan District,Zhangjiakou City under different simulation scenarios shows that in 2035,the arable land area in Wanquan District generally shows an increasing trend of 7185.34 hm2,1179.71 hm2 and 8812.12 hm2 under the natural growth scenario, ecological protection scenario and arable land protection scenario, respectively, while the ecological land generally shows a decreasing trend with three different The area of ecological land decreased by 9089.7hm2,2349.67hm2 and 9952.58hm2 under the three scenarios, while the area of urban land generally showed an increasing trend, with an increase of 667.5hm2,626.52hm2 and 575.55hm2 under the three scenarios. From the perspective of ecological protection, the ecological area is reduced the least under the ecological protection scenario, which is the most suitable urban development boundary plan for Wanquan District,Zhangjiakou City.
