In recent years, with the continuous development of economy and trade, cargo transportation has seen an unprecedented boom, while this trend has also led to a sharp increase in energy consumption and increasingly serious environmental pollution, which shows that it is extremely necessary to develop green transportation. In addition, multimodal transportation can effectively reduce transportation costs, transportation time and pollutant emissions of cargo, and improve the quality of transportation of cargo. Therefore,in the selection of cargo transportation methods, strengthening the use of multimodal transport can effectively reduce pollutant emissions and reduce air pollution.Based on the theoretical basis related to multimodal transportation and green transportation, this paper incorporates the pollutant emissions from cargo transportation into the study of multimodal transportation mode selection, which mainly contains the following contents:Firstly,a large amount of literature related to multimodal transportation, green transportation and pollutant emissions in the field of cargo transportation by scholars at home and abroad is sorted out.Based on the relevant theories and methods, the transportation costs of cargo transportation and pollutant emissions in the transportation process under different transportation modes are calculated by analyzing the impact of pollutants in cargo transportation on the environment, resources and human health as well as the transportation characteristics of four transportation modes:road, railroad, waterway and air transportation and the influencing factors of pollutant emissions in the transportation process.Secondly, from the perspective of government and enterprises, the single-objective multimodal transport mode selection model considering pollutant emissions and the single-objective multimodal transport mode selection model considering costs are constructed respectively, and the algorithm process is designed by using genetic algorithm combined with the specific problems of this paper;then the dual-objective multimodal transport mode selection model considering environmental impact with the least comprehensive pollutant emissions and the least costs is established. Then,a dual-objective multimodal transport mode selection model with the lowest integrated pollutant emissions and the lowest environmental impact is established, and the advantages and disadvantages of NSGA and NSGA-Ⅱ algorithms are compared, and the NSGA-Ⅱ algorithm is selected for the dual-objective model to carry out the algorithm process design in combination with the model. Finally, using Guiyang and Shenyang as the starting and finishing points, the actual data were collected and organized to solve the single-objective optimization model and the dual-objective optimization model respectively by using MATLAB programming to obtain the optimal solutions for each. The results show that the single-objective multimodal transport mode with the lowest pollutant emissions is the one with the lowest pollutant emissions, and under different transport time constraints, the CO2 emissions are the highest among all pollutants and the lowest HC emissions. In the study,it is found that the transportation cost of railroads and waterways is much smaller than that of air transport;in the study of dual-objective multimodal transport mode selection with the least comprehensive pollutant emission and the least transportation cost considering environmental impact,it is found that the pollutant emission and transportation cost cannot reach the least at the same time, therefore, the optimal transportation solution with the smallest possible pollutant emission and transportation cost is obtained to provide multimodal transport enterprises with a more Therefore,to obtain the optimal transport solution with the lowest possible pollutant emissions and transport costs, multimodal transport companies can choose a more appropriate, greener and more economical transport mode according to user preferences.
