According to the fixation rate of the viewing object during the reading process,the behavior pattern,in which sight line frequently moves between the VDT(Visual Display Terminal)and the paper manuscript,is defined as interactive reading.At present,our country’s lighting standards have not yet given lighting indicator requirements for e-reading or interactive reading,and the existing VDT work luminous environment research mostly focuses on the screen reading mode,lacking a comprehensive discussion of the luminous environment in the interactive reading mode.Therefore,exploring an efficient and comfortable interactive reading luminous environment is of great significance to improving the environment quality of the VDT space.Corresponding to the characteristics of interactive reading behavior,the illuminance ratio parameter was introduced,which characterizes the relationship between the horizontal paper surface illuminance and the vertical screen illuminance value.The effects of the 4 lighting parameters,including illuminance ratio,horizontal illuminance,color temperature,and screen brightness,on the visual perception and cognitive performance of the operator were studied.The assessment content includes: visual comfort,visual effect,visual fatigue,cognitive efficiency,and emotional arousal.The major studying contents of this paper are as follows:(1)The above 4 lighting parameters and 5 assessment content were determined as the key research objects of the interactive reading lighting environment.A physiological evaluation index for visual perception and cognitive performance of interactive reading based on physiological monitoring technology was constructed: the eye movement evaluation index of visual fatigue was the average pupil diameter and blinking frequency,the physiological evaluation index of cognitive efficiency was electrical skin and Heart rate variability(RMSSD),and the physiological evaluation index of emotional arousal was heart rate.Based on the subjective evaluation measurement method,the subjective score is used to evaluate the visual comfort;based on the task performance measurement method,the check score is used to evaluate the visual effect.(2)The design and construction of the experimental device for the subjective and objective evaluation of the interactive reading lighting environment was completed,which was based on the DIALux evo.This experimental device realized that the illuminance ratio is continuously adjustable within the range of 1.5-5.5,the horizontal illuminance is continuously adjustable within 1000 lx,and the color temperature is adjustable in three levels of 3500 K,4000K,and 5000 K.(3)Use the experimental device,and with the assistance of the Ergo LAB platform,the subjects’ eye movements and physiological signals were collected and recorded through the eye tracker and physiological recorder,and the subjective and objective evaluation experiments of the interactive reading lighting environment were carried out.(4)Using SPSS and Minitab software to analyze the experimental data,the results show that color temperature has the greatest impact on the subjective comfort score and check score,the horizontal illumination has the greatest impact on the average pupil diameter,and the screen brightness has the greatest impact on blinking frequency,skin electrical change rate,RMSSD change rate,and heart rate change rate.The best light environment parameters for high visual comfort combined with high emotional awakening are: horizontal illuminance 750 lx,vertical illuminance 300 lx,illuminance ratio2.5,color temperature 4000 K,and the best screen brightness is 100cd/㎡.The best light environment parameters for high visual performance combined with low visual fatigue and high cognitive efficiency are: horizontal illuminance 300 lx,vertical illuminance200 lx,illuminance ratio 1.5,color temperature 5000 K,and when the screen brightness is 100cd/㎡,the cognitive efficiency is the highest,when the screen brightness is 180cd/㎡,the visual fatigue is the lowest.Following the trend of using VDT,this article constructs a comfortable and efficient interactive reading lighting environment and experimental devices that can be promoted and applied.The research conclusions can provide luminous parameter suggestions for the design of interactive reading luminous environment,and provide a application basis for the VDT work vertical illuminance research,which is positive meaning for protecting human vision,physiology,and mental health.
