Navigation simulators play an important role in modern navigation education and training, and with the rapid development of computer simulation technology, its scale continues to expand and its functions continue to improve. This also means that the existing model will restrict its sustainable development. Therefore, this thesis takes advantage of the high immersion and interactivity of virtual reality(VR)technology, and combines the characteristics of actual ship manipulation to build an immersive VR sailing simulator.Aiming at the lack of realism of human-computer interaction in traditional VR simulation platforms,it is proposed to realize natural and real ship manipulation in the form of virtual hands, and in-depth research on related key technologies is carried out.The main work of the thesis is as follows:(1)Design a VR navigation simulator framework based on virtual hand interaction.Through the analysis of the requirements of VR navigation simulator, the overall framework of VR navigation simulator is proposed, the virtual hand interaction solution is given, and its manipulation process is clarified, which points out the direction for the follow-up research of the thesis.(2)Design a collision detection algorithm suitable for virtual bridge controls.By analyzing the collision situation of each control and considering the problems of the existing detection algorithms,a coarse and fine two-step collision detection algorithm is designed to prevent the occurrence of unconventional physical phenomena such as penetration. In the rough detection, the global detection model of the control is constructed by the hierarchical bounding box tree technology;in the fine detection, the basic geometric primitives in the collision area are segmented by the three-dimensional model stacking algorithm, and then a more refined local detection model is generated.Through comparative experiments,it is verified that the algorithm in this thesis can ensure the detection accuracy while satisfying the real-time detection performance.(3)Research the virtual hand manipulation method suitable for VR navigation simulator.By analyzing the finger characteristics of common manipulation gestures, the rules of virtual hand interaction are defined;at the same time,in order to truly simulate the motion of controls under virtual hand manipulation,a motion control method suitable for restricted conditions is designed based on mechanical analysis method; In addition,in view of the unstable virtual hand posture in practical applications,an inverse kinematics algorithm is introduced to dynamically correct the hand posture.A natural and realistic virtual hand manipulation is realized by the above method.Based on the above research, this thesis realizes realistic virtual ship manipulation through Unity and Leap Motion, solves the problem of insufficient realism of human-computer interaction in VR technology, and provides new ideas, new directions and new modes for the development of navigation simulator technology.
