The research on water lubricated bearing materials at home and abroad is gradually mature.However,there are few researches on the friction and wear properties of water lubricated bearing materials in polar seawater environment.Therefore,it is imperative to study the tribological properties of water lubricated bearing materials in polar seawater environment.Firstly,in order to study the effects of three temperatures of 20℃,0℃ and-1.5℃on the friction and wear properties of water lubricated bearing materials,the tribological properties of three polymer materials(PU,SR and UHMWPE)were tested in this paper.The results showed that under the condition of water lubrication,the friction coefficients of all polymers decreased with the decrease of temperature.Under water lubrication at low temperature,the adhesive wear of PU,SR and UHMWPE was significantly reduced.The wear forms of the three polymer materials were mainly reflected in abrasive wear.The friction coefficient and wear mass of UHMWPE were lower than those of the other two materials.Under dry friction condition,at low temperature,the friction coefficient of the three polymer materials was lower than room temperature.The main wear forms of PU and UHMWPE were adhesive wear and abrasive wear,and SR was abrasive wear.The friction coefficient and wear mass of PU were significantly higher than those of the other two materials.Secondly,in order to study the effect of polar ice crystals on the tribological properties of water lubricated bearing materials,the friction and wear properties of three polymer materials were tested at 0℃ and-1.5℃ respectively under the condition of water lubrication containing ice crystals.The results showed that the ice crystal has a great influence on water lubricated bearing materials.The friction and wear properties of the materials under the condition of water lubrication containing ice crystal were worse than those under the condition of pure water lubrication,and with the decrease of temperature,the deterioration was more serious.The friction and wear properties of UHMWPE materials under the condition of water lubrication containing ice crystal were better than that of PU and SR.Finally,in order to study the tribological properties of water lubricated bearing containing ice crystals under simulated polar operating conditions,the UHMWPE was tested.The effects of rotating speed and load on its tribological properties were comprehensively analyzed.The results showed that the friction coefficient and wear mass of the material increased with the increase of load.The wear form under low load was mainly abrasive wear,and the high load was mainly abrasive wear and adhesive wear.As a whole,the friction coefficient of materials decreased first and then increased with the increase of rotating speed.In summary,the influence of polar seawater environment on the tribological properties of water-lubricated bearing materials is studied in this paper,which provides tribological data support for the design of water lubricated bearing materials for polar ships.
