A Study Of Post-industrial Urban Landscape Regeneration Design Based On The Spirit Of Place

Industrial heritage is an important core of the post-industrial landscape,a one-off cultural resource in the city.It is not only historical evidence of the changes in the industrial development of modern cities,but also an important support for the spiritual transmission of the city’s cultural heritage.As an inevitable product of the post-industrial era,the post-industrial landscape has a spatial regeneration and temporal transformation in the context of more than 100 years of industrial development in China.As an important chapter in the process of urban development,its rich historical and cultural information is now facing the loss of many precious elements.From the perspective of the spirit of place theory,this paper views the development of the post-industrial landscape as the result of the interaction between the material space and the spiritual and cultural energy of the city,and focuses more on the results of industrial production activities and the birthmark of the beauty of technology-"material and immaterial industrial elements " The coupling relationship between the spirit of place theory and post-industrial landscape regeneration is analysed,highlighting the importance of introducing the spirit of place theory in post-industrial landscape regeneration design and the harmonious interaction between them,aiming to reproduce the historical lineage of industrial development behind the "devastation" of the post-industrial landscape It seeks to recreate the historical lineage of industrial development and the spirit of innovation and enterprise behind the "devastation" of post-industrial landscapes,to explore the "thickness" of industrial heritage as the base of a post-industrial cultural landscape,and to analyse the ways in which they can be reconnected with contemporary life and activated and reborn,so as to achieve the aspiration of examining the past through post-industrial landscape regeneration and gaining insight into the future through post-industrial landscape regeneration.The full text consists of six parts.The first chapter is an introductory section,which focuses on the relationship between place and spirit of place,and the relationship between industrial heritage,industrial legacy and post-industrial landscape through the study of the background foundation of the subject.The second chapter reveals the motivations for the development of the spirit of place and post-industrial landscapes,and in the process of vertical combing,attempts to clarify that the analysis of the theory of the spirit of place will be closer to the essential motivations for the regeneration of post-industrial landscapes.Chapter 3 analyses the practical experience and value of place-based spirituality in the regeneration of post-industrial urban landscapes from the perspective of psychological theory,providing a theoretical basis for the thesis.Chapter 4 discusses the necessity of creating a spirit of place in post-industrial landscapes,then examines the important factors influencing the spirit of place in the overall form of post-industrial landscapes,and explores four main design strategies.Chapter 5 takes the regeneration design of the post-industrial heritage landscape of Nanjing’s Jinling Shipyard as an example study,illustrating the design ideas and specific methods for regenerating the post-industrial landscape from the perspective of the spirit of place,allowing the unique ontology of the industrial landscape and its significance to the urban public to be co-interpreted and reinterpreted in the new era of development.Chapter 6 describes the reality and future development trends of regenerating the spirit of place in post-industrial landscapes,and summarises the social significance and development trends of regenerating the spirit of place in urban post-industrial landscapes under the new circumstances,based on the previous longitudinal and horizontal discussions.It is concluded through the whole paper that focusing on the spirit of place is the main theme for the benign development of post-industrial landscapes.
