As an important part of the urban road traffic system,a signalized intersection is where vehicles with different driving directions converge and turn.Under the dynamic game of multiple traffic flow, vehicle speed fluctuates greatly, which easily leads to traffic congestion and accidents.Coupled with the mandatory constraints of traffic facilities at the intersection, the capacity of this area is much lower than that of basic urban road sections. With the leap-forward development of automobile horizontal and vertical automatic control technology and wireless communication network technology, the integration of internet of things, vehicle intelligent control, and other technologies provide technical support for multi-vehicle cooperative driving, making it possible for vehicles to drive in a platoon.Based on this, this thesis focuses on the vehicle group behavior of signal intersections in a connected vehicle(CV)environment, and explores a series of issues about the process of vehicle group generation and control by means of modeling description and simulation analysis.Firstly, the self-organization of vehicle flow at signalized intersections in the CV environment is studied.Based on defining the concept of internet of vehicles and its information characteristics, the operational characteristics of signal intersection traffic flow are analyzed. The concept of vehicle flow self-organization is introduced to explore the self-organization characteristics of signal intersection traffic flow under the network information loading.Considering the possibility of cooperative driving of vehicle groups, the impact of traffic flow self-organization on traffic order and traffic operation is explored from a macroscopic perspective, and the positive significance of platoon organization is clarified.Secondly, the vehicle group behavior in the signal intersection scenario is modeled and analyzed.Considering the spatial group characteristics of platoons at the approach of intersection, the approach is divided into two physical areas: the lane changing area and the car following area.Based on the behavioral performance of platoons and the traffic status at the intersection, the single-vehicle changing behavior model, overall platoon changing behavior model in the lane changing area, and the following behavior model and queuing-starting behavior model of platoons in the car following area were constructed respectively. Two types of scenarios,accident/single-vehicle failure and pedestrian violation of traffic rules, were selected to analyze the behavioral characteristics of vehicle groups under special conditions in the signal intersection area with the help of descriptive analysis.Thirdly,simulation-oriented scenario status analysis and control strategy research were carried out.Starting from the demand of vehicle group behavior simulation test in the CV environment, the appropriate signal intersection operation evaluation indicators were screened based on real traffic data collected in the field.Fully considering the operating characteristics of vehicles in the CV environment, vehicle group behavior management and control strategies based on the form of platoons and groups were proposed. Finally, the simulation and evaluation of vehicle group behavior in the CV environment were completed.By building a simulation platform of vehicle group behavior, the multi-dimensional set operation data of intersection status and different vehicle group control strategies were obtained. On this basis, aiming at the optimization problem of vehicle group organization at fixed signal timing controlled intersections, the platoon size was changed to explore the influence of different platoon sizes on the improvement of traffic efficiency of each approach,so as to seek a more ideal vehicle group organization form at a given fixed signal timing. The vehicle group behavior under special conditions was also simulated and analyzed. In summary, this thesis takes an urban signal intersection as the research scenario, considers the vehicle network and communication and other emerging technology means, from the perspective of collaborative optimization of vehicle group behavior, and studies the vehicle group behavior characteristics of signal intersections in a targeted manner with a new perspective, and verifies and compares them by means of simulation. The research has formed a general analysis framework of "traffic survey +theoretical analysis + modeling description + microscopic simulation",which provides theoretical support for the large-scale application of platoon organization in the CV environment, and provides solutions and ideas for the control of vehicle groups in similar scenarios, with certain engineering practical application value.
