The Gan’en Temple was first built in the fifth year of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty, and is one of the earliest and most well-preserved Tibetan Buddhist temples in the Gansu-Qinghai region. The main building of the temple has undergone changes during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and has a clear historical context, high authenticity, and completeness, making it an important example for studying the architectural technology and ethnic integration of the diverse cultural regions in northwest China. However, due to multiple expansions and renovations, the layout and spatial organization of the temple have undergone significant changes, and further analysis and sorting of its courtyard layout and spatial organization characteristics are needed. In addition, the Gan’en Temple is located in a cultural blending area, where the architectural features are a combination of traditional official-style architecture, local architecture, and Tibetan-style architecture, but research on its architectural features is not thorough enough and needs further improvement and summary. Therefore, this study mainly focuses on the following three aspects:The first aspect is the study of the reasons for the construction and historical context of the Gan’en Temple.Starting from the establishment and evolution of Hongcheng Town, historical information about the Gan’en Temple will be explored through the collection and collation of historical records and ancient books, examining the historical, geographical, cultural, and religious factors that influenced its construction, and revealing the internal and external development rules of local Buddhist culture. At the same time, based on existing inscriptions and on-site surveys, important historical intervals and time nodes will be extracted, and the layout characteristics of the Gan’en Temple during different historical periods will be sorted out and its evolution process will be explained. The second aspect is the study of the architectural features of the Gan’en Temple as a whole.Firstly,by sorting out the historical context and layout evolution of the Gan’en Temple, the considerations in site selection and the influence of the traditional Han-style temple’s "Qie Lan Seven Halls" on its layout features will be clarified.Secondly,by analyzing the spatial distribution relationship of buildings on the main axis of the Gan’en Temple and the vertical viewing angle under normal perspective, the rationality and scientificity of its courtyard space composition will be discussed. Finally, the construction modules and proportional relationships of the various courtyards of the Gan’en Temple will be studied through on-site measurement and data analysis, clarifying the basic composition rules of the temple’s courtyard space during its design. The above analysis uses quantitative and qualitative research methods, aiming to clarify the construction features of the Gan’ en Temple as a Tibetan Buddhist temple in terms of group layout, spatial structure, and courtyard composition from a macro perspective. The third aspect is the study of the architectural features of each individual building in the Gan’en Temple.Firstly,t hrough detailed survey data, corresponding research on the plan composition relationship, beam and rafter structure features, facade construction scale, and bracket armature system features of each building will be conducted at both formal and proportional scales, and the typical features of the Gan’en Temple’s construction technology will be extracted and summarized by comparing it with traditional official style and local artisanal systems.Secondly,by summarizing and comparing the Gan’en Temple with sur rounding buildings of the same period and type, the differences and similarities in their construction techniques will be analyzed, further improving and deepening the research content. The above analysis focuses on a micro perspective, using data analysis and comparative analysis research methods to summarize the regular features of the construction of each individual building in the Gan’en Temple. In summary, this study systematically analyzed the construction methods of the Gan’en Temple from both macro and micro perspectives. This not only supplements the lack of research on the Gan’en Temple but also improves the technology system of ancient wooden construction in Gansu Province. At the same time,it promotes the further exploration of the overall value of the Gan’en Temple, providing important reference for the protection and restoration of ancient architecture and strong support for the better promotion of traditional architectural culture. |
