Putuoyu and Puxiangyu Dingdong mausoleum are located in the east of Dingling.The two mausoleums are side by side in the East and West.The former is the mausoleum of Empress Cixi,while the latter is the mausoleum of Empress Cian.As the largest empress mausoleum built in the late Qing Dynasty,the two mausoleums borrowed from the experience and essence of other mausoleum projects.As the most important construction project of the Qing Dynasty,the mausoleum project will produce various engineering archives in the process of operation.This paper investigates the project archives and analyzes their style and content such as Gongcheng beiyao and Gongcheng zuofa,to clarify the basic situation of the historical literature.Then,combined with the research findings of existing buildings,surveying data and related ancient archives,this paper makes an in-depth analysis of the construction methods of individual wooden works,tile and stone works,color painting works of Dingdong mausoleum.Through the systematic and detailed comparison of existing buildings and literature,this paper explores the changes of practice brought by the grading system in Chinese historical architecture,from various aspects investigate the construction and practice of Dingdong mausoleum.
