The internal combustion engine is the main transportation power of our country’s transportation industry.How to maximize energy saving and emission reduction has always been a subject of close attention to research by scholars all over the world.The development of advanced engine technology and improvement of fuel quality are the future development directions of internal combustion engines.Therefore,author of this article uses different volume blending ratios of methanol fuel and ethanol fuel with different physical and chemical properties on a vehicle equipped with a direct injection(GDI)engine,and explores the effect of different fuels on the performance of the vehicle on a chassis dynamometer.The author first used methanol fuels of different volume blending ratios on the GDI vehicle to study the effect on the performance of the vehicle under steady-state conditions.During the experiment,to highlight the impact of different fuels on emissions,the three-way catalytic converter of the vehicle was artificially dismantled.The results show that as the methanol blending ratio increases,the engine fuel injection pulse width learning value increases to the maximum value,the ignition timing is advanced at high speeds,and is delayed at low speeds,and the intake air flow decreases;the overall volumetric fuel consumption increases.Compared with M0,M100 increases by about 90%,and the equivalent fuel consumption shows a downward trend as a whole.Compared with M0,M100 decreases by about 8%;CO2,CO,THC and NOx emissions are all reduced.Compared with M0,M100 decreases by about 10%,75%,87%,80%;with the methanol blending ratio from 0-75%,the acceleration time of the vehicle is shortened,the acceleration time of the M75 in the 5th gear is about 12.94%lower than that of the M0,and the power is enhanced,but the power of the M100 performance drops.On this basis,the author continued to use four ethanol gasolines with different physical and chemical properties on the vehicle to study the effect on the performance of the vehicle under NEDC cycle conditions and steady-state conditions.The results show that the volumetric fuel consumption of ethanol gasoline is higher than that of pure gasoline,and the equivalent fuel consumption is reduced.When the aromatic content is 10%-30%,there is a positive correlation with ethanol gasoline fuel consumption.Under steady-state and high vehicle speeds,the impact of T50 on fuel consumption is negatively correlated;under steady-state operating conditions,when the olefin content is about 8%,CO2 emissions are the highest.Adding C9~+aromatics to fuel has a significant impact on THC emissions.Under NEDC cycle conditions,ethanol gasoline has lower CO2,THC,and NOx emissions than pure gasoline,and the aromatics content and NOx emissions are positively correlated;all four ethanol gasolines reduce PM emissions,and PN emissions are positively correlated with aromatics content;four kinds of ethanol gasoline shorten the acceleration time of the car,and the higher the octane number,the stronger the power.Finally,the author selected two fuels,M10 and G90E10-1,to compare the performance of the vehicle under steady-state conditions.The results show that at low-speed v=15 km/h,the volume fuel consumption of M10 is slightly higher,and the volume fuel consumption at other vehicle speeds are slightly lower;at low-speed v=15 km/h,the CO2 emissions and CO emissions of M10 are higher,but THC and NOx emissions are lower.When the high-speed v=120 km/h,the M10 has lower CO emissions and higher NOx emissions.In terms of power,in the high gear,the power performance of the M10 is about 5%higher than that of the G90E10-1.In summary,blending methanol and ethanol fuel into gasoline can improve the emission performance and power performance of the vehicle.As the future energy fuel,methanol and ethanol fuel have a lot of room for development.
