| The Confucius Temple in Qufu,as a ritual building for the worship of Confucius,is a sacred space of Confucian culture.Its development history of more than two thousand years has witnessed the vicissitudes of traditional culture and political beliefs.The Confucian Temple in Qufu was originally a family temple,but after it became an official ideological bearer,responsibility for its repair passed to the government.From the three former residences in the Spring and Autumn period to the Five Dynasties,Qufu Confucius Temple took shape,and then to the large-scale expansion in the Song and Yuan Dynasties,until the Ming and Qing Dynasties basically established the shape and structure of the modern Confucius Temple,stretching for thousands of years.Since the Republic of China,with the collapse of the imperial system,the authority of Confucianism was no longer,and the status of Qufu Confucian Temple also declined.During the War of the Central Plains,although the warring sides shouted that they respected the holy land,they attacked each other mercilessly.Under the heavy artillery fire,the temple of Confucius in Qufu was seriously damaged.With the rule of the Nanjing National Government gradually stabilized,the call for the reconstruction of the Confucius temple was rising day by day.On the surface,all walks of life were quite active.The National government,the Shandong provincial government,the people who respect the Confucius in society and so on expressed their support.After it can be put into operation,all parties are paying lip service to it.The social donations received are far from expected,so Qufukong Temple due to the lack of funds to repair the delay,no progress,until the outbreak of the war of resistance,only repair temple Dacheng Temple sleeping temple and the same door,Hongdaomen,and Yan Temple.The overall renovation project of Qufu Temple has not officially started,and the donations raised have gone missing.In the 1930 s,the repair of Qufu Confucius Temple was fruitless,and the reasons were multiple.On the surface,it is because of lack of funds,can not start.The fundamental reason is closely related to the loss of the ideological status of Confucianism.From the perspective of the central government,because of the existence of the Three Principles of the People,the National government of Nanjing under the control of the Kuomintang was not enthusiastic about respecting the Confucius at the beginning.It focused on the political unification.Although it made some adjustments later,it still delayed and perfunctory.From the perspective of Shandong provincial government,Han Fu Chi,as a powerful local force,superficially obeyed the Nanjing government,but secretly put the consolidation of his own strength in the first place.He had no interest in respecting the Confucius and had no real interest in building temples.From the perspective of society,although many people strongly call for the reconstruction of Confucius Temple,but because of lack of strength and ability,they can only look at the temple and sigh.From the perspective of Yan Shenggong Mansion,due to its own economic distress,it had no time to spare,and it had become a habit to rely on the government to build temples,so it was not willing to squeeze money out of its teeth to build temples.The failure of the repair of Qufu Confucius Temple highlights the tortuous situation of traditional culture in the transition period of modern society.Due to its inability to resist the Western forces,traditional culture was questioned and criticized in modern times,and was once regarded as an obstacle to social progress.However,when China wants to establish a modern nation state,it finds that without traditional culture,we are like a water without source or a tree without roots.We cannot find a place to live.Therefore,the repair of Confucian temples was an indispensable continuation of traditional culture in modern times,but it was a little inferior to the reconstruction of political order at that time.Therefore,the clamour for repair was constant,but the action was extremely slow. |
