"Hakka" was originally the title of the South China aborigines to the foreign ethnic groups, but with the passage of time,it gradually changed into the self-identity of the Hakka ethnic group. Therefore, the Hakka people are on the edge of the history and culture of the Han ethnic group, and they are also one of the main witnesses of the course of Chinese civilization. However, the research on the history, culture and technology related to Hakka culture has been ignored by the mainstream for a long time.Hakka culture has become diverse and unique after a long time of continuous inheritance and innovation in the mountainous areas of northern Guangdong and the absorption of minority culture. However, the current situation is that while Hakka culture gradually returns to people’s vision, young Hakka people are constantly integrating into urban life and gradually weakening and forgetting their Hakka background. It is the responsibility of Hakka scholars to explore and carry forward the history and prosperity of Hakka culture.Inheriting and carrying forward Hakka culture needs a carrier in reality, and the decoration of Hakka traditional utensils is one of the important carriers that can display Hakka culture and art. Therefore, the decoration of Hakka artifacts in Meizhou area records the cultural inheritance of Hakka people for thousands of years.Relevant research is also the exploration and inheritance of Hakka spiritual world and artistic thought. The Hakka traditional artifacts in Meizhou are not only a part of the history of creation in South China, but also an important part of Chinese art.The modeling and decoration of Hakka traditional utensils have a profound impact on the development of Hakka art and the living habits of Hakka people. It is a cultural treasure in South China and defines the direction for the development of modern Hakka artificial art. However, the contemporary research on Hakka people is mainly concentrated in the fields of Architecture(earthbuilding/Tulou,Coiling Dragon House),clothing and language. Therefore, the research on the decoration of Hakka artifacts in Meizhou is a rare research on Hakka traditional artifacts in China. Both the research on Hakka traditional utensils and the research on decorative design are less concerned in the current Hakka related research. The unique feature of this thesis is to discuss the decorative art, historical value and characteristics of Hakka traditional utensils in Meizhou through the theories of history, art, art and design. The research on Meizhou Hakka traditional utensils from the perspective of utensil decoration design will undoubtedly enrich the academic research on Hakka utensil technology. This will put forward new design inspiration for the combination of Hakka art and modern and contemporary design, promote the redevelopment and innovation of Hakka culture, and provide more new ideas for the strategy of rural vitalization and The Belt and Road Initiative.
