Study On Leaf Functional Traits Of Common Garden Plants In Fuzhou

As one of the important plant traits,leaf functional traits are closely related to plant growth strategies and resource utilization,and are an important field of ecological research.Most of the previous researches focused on wild plants and rarely involved urban garden plants.Based on this,this study took the commonly used garden plants in Fuzhou parks as the research object,and selected Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University(Jinshan Campus),Jinniushan Park and West Lake Park(including Zuohai Park)as the sampling locations according to the distance from the city center.To study the leaf functional traits of plants,analyze the characteristics of leaf functional traits and environmental adaptation strategies of urban garden plants,and at the same time explore the spatial changes of leaf functional traits.The results are as follows:(1)There are differences among species in leaf functional traits of garden plants in Fuzhou,among which the variation of leaf area is the largest,the coefficient of variation is as high as 100.50%,which belongs to strong variation;except for leaf area,the others are of medium and low variation,and the coefficient of variation of leaf carbon content and leaf water content is the lowest,which are 5.38% and 11.86%.(2)Compared with the research results in other regions,28 garden plants in Fuzhou generally have larger leaf thickness,smaller specific leaf area,leaf dry matter content and leaf tissue density,which can effectively reduce water transpiration and the impact on resources.The utilization efficiency is higher and it is more suitable for the high temperature environment of Fuzhou,but the defense against physical damage is weaker.Therefore,it is recommended that some plants with strong physical damage resistance can be appropriately added in the selection of landscaping plants;at the same time,28 garden plants as a whole shows lower leaf carbon content and leaf nitrogen content,indicating that plants have weak carbon fixation capacity and low nitrogen availability;however,leaf phosphorus content,leaf carbon to nitrogen ratio and leaf nitrogen to phosphorus ratio are all higher,and leaf nitrogen to phosphorus The ratio is lower than 14,on the one hand,it shows a higher nutrient utilization strategy,on the other hand,it also shows that the growth of garden plants in Fuzhou is mainly restricted by nitrogen.(3)The urban heat island effect in Fuzhou is obvious and the summer is a period of tropical storms and typhoons.In the selection of landscaping plants,you can refer to the larger leaf thickness,leaf dry matter content,leaf tissue density,Specific leaf quality,leaf carbon content and lower specific leaf area.Among 28 garden plants,the leaf traits of Litchi chinensis,Camellia japonica,Osmanthus fragrans,Cinnamomum camphora,Nerium indicum,Photinia × fraseri Dress,Dimocarpus longan,Magnolia grandiflora,Ficus microcarpa,Mangifera indica,Ligustrum×vicaryi,Michelia figo,Lagerstroemia indica cover the above mentioned leaf traits 1/2 and above traits,so these plants are relatively suitable for gardening in Fuzhou.(4)With the park gradually approaching from the edge of the city to the center of the city,that is to say,according to the order of Fujian agricultural and Forestry University(Jinshan campus),Jinniushan Park and West Lake Park(including Zuohai Park),the functional properties of plant leaves are different in different parks,but the differences are not obvious(P>0.05).(5)In the process of interaction with environment,landscape plants form a series of leaf functional character combinations which are beneficial to plant growth and development in morphological structure and physiology.Among them,leaf water content and dry matter content,specific leaf mass and specific leaf area,leaf tissue density and dry matter content,leaf tissue density and water content showed a high degree of fit,and leaf water content and dry matter content,specific leaf mass and specific leaf area,leaf tissue density and water content were inversely proportional,while leaf tissue density and dry matter content were directly proportional.(6)There was a significant correlation between leaf element content and its stoichiometric ratio,among which the fitting degree of leaf C/N ratio to leaf N content,leaf N/P ratio to leaf P content was higher,and the leaf C/N ratio and leaf N/P ratio decreased with the increase of leaf N content and leaf P content,respectively.(7)The linear fitting results of leaf functional properties and leaf temperature showed that leaf temperature decreased with the increase of leaf tissue density and dry matter content,increased with the increase of leaf water content and leaf thickness,and had no significant correlation with other properties.
