Modern and contemporary infrastructure,as a "technological system",is quietly influencing our urban space and urban life while maintaining the operation of the city. From the macro urban scale to the micro community scale, infrastructure is an important part of modern urban built environment. In the existing infrastructure architecture research, different from the traditional infrastructure research focusing on the huge infrastructure such as viaduct, railway and expressway, the daily infrastructure research focuses on the small-scale infrastructure such as public toilets, which involves the dimension of daily experience. In the existing research on public toilets, public toilets often take single buildings as the research object. However, this paper starts from the view of infrastructure system and considers public toilets as a terminal device of urban infrastructure system.By studying the urban life of urban space related to public toilets, this paper combs and analyzes the iterative evolution of public toilets, refines the specific characteristics of their iterative evolution process, and analyzes and thinks about the development trend of related urban buildings based on the iterative evolution of public toilets. In this paper, the basic research of public toilets in wuhan city center is firstly carried out, including historical evolution, layout analysis and case analysis. It is found that public toilets in different historical periods have obvious differences from macro to micro, and have a trend of iterative evolution.Secondly, through the study of typology, this paper discusses the internal motivation and concrete embodiment of the difference of public toilets, and tries to make a generational analysis of the iterative evolution of public toilets, and sums up the "intergenerational relationship" between public toilets. Then, the "stack" theoretical model is introduced to analyze the urban space and urban life related to public toilets from the system layer, city layer, interface layer and user layer from the perspective of daily infrastructure, and explore the characteristics of public toilets in the iterative evolution process. Finally, from the level of infrastructure network, urban space, urban life and terminal equipment, the specific characteristics of the iterative evolution of public toilets are extracted and inspired by this, and the development of relevant urban buildings is predicted.
