Ink-jet printing technology is widely used in textile and material processing because of high precision and non-contact printing method.Ink-jet printing pattern is favored by consumers due to bright color and high clarity. As one of the most widely used natural fibers, wool fabrics have natural drapability and heat retention with unique scale layer structure, and are commonly used in the production of high-end clothing and carpets. At the same time, the hydrophobic scale layer also obstructs the dyeing and printing finishing of wool fabric, which makes the ink-jet printing effect of wool fabric unsatisfactory. Therefore, the preparation of high-performance ink-jet printing wool fabric has a positive exploration value to improve the added value of wool products. In order to better improve the performance of wool fabric ink-jet printing, this paper mainly from the fabric pretreatment and natural dye ink two aspects, explore the fabric properties after pretreatment and different ink properties on the wool fabric ink-jet printing effect. The specific research contents are as follows:(1)Using the etching effect of plasma on the surface of wool fiber, the changes of surface elements and wettability of wool fabric after pretreatment were explored by scanning electron microscopy, fabric reflectance,XPS,contact angle and other tests. The influence of different pretreatment time on the inkjet printing performance of wool fabric was explored. The results showed that after plasma pretreatment, the surface scale layer of wool fiber was destroyed,a large number of hydrophilic groups were introduced into the fabric surface, and the fabric wettability was obviously improved. The surface of the etched fabric becomes uneven and the reflectivity of the fabric surface decreases. After three minutes of plasma treatment, the color intensity of reactive red-218 and reactive orange-13 dyes reached the highest, and the permeability of reactive dyes inks inside the fabric was the best. The maximum K/S value of reactive red-218 dyes reached 22.34,which increased the color intensity by 52.59%compared with that of untreated wool fabric(14.64).The mechanism of plasma pretreatment to improve the performance of wool fabric ink-jet printing was revealed and verified in factory printing patterns.(2)The water-soluble natural dye gardenia yellow was used as inks for ink-jet printing of wool fabric to prepare natural dye inks with different concentrations and solvents. The surface tension, viscosity and other solution properties of inks of different systems were studied as well as the printing properties on the surface of wool fabric. The results show that the prepared natural dye inks have sufficient solution stability to be used in fabric inkjet printing. The increase of concentration will reduce the surface tension and increase the viscosity of the ink.Glycol, diethylene glycol, propylene glycol and propylene glycol can reduce the surface tension and increase viscosity of gardenia yellow ink.Propylene glycol has the strongest effect on reducing ink surface tension, and diethylene glycol has the best effect on improving ink viscosity.Mg2+and tannic acid can enhance the color fastness of gardenia yellow on the wool fabric. The antibacterial test showed that the antibacterial rate of gardenia yellow printed wool fabric against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus reached more than 95%.The two aspects affecting the ink-jet printing performance of wool fabric studied in this paper have a positive exploration significance for improving the printing performance of wool fabric.Plasma pretreatment can be used as a simple method to improve the effect of wool printing. The research on the ink-jet printing performance of water-soluble natural dyes has a good innovation, which is conducive to the development of efficient and environmentally friendly wool printing products.
