In recent years,polyvinyl alcohol has been widely used in many areas of the textile,glue and dye industries around the world.In the textile industry,polyvinyl alcohol slurry can be used for warp sizing.However,polyvinyl alcohol is not easily biodegradable,pollutes the environment and its long-term deposition can lead to ecological damage and does not meet the requirements of sustainable development.The development of environmentally friendly sizing agents that can replace polyvinyl alcohol is therefore essential for the long-term sustainability of the textile industry.Polyethylene wax is a non-polar,low molecular polyolefin synthetic wax with poor polarity requiring a large amount of emulsifier to form a stable emulsion.Polyethylene wax emulsions are also an environmentally friendly material with high film-forming capacity,flexibility,high melting point and compatibility.It has a wide range of applications and can be used simultaneously with other auxiliaries,especially in the textile industry,as a smoothing agent,softener,fiber protector,etc.The main focus of this study was to develop auxiliaries that could reduce or replace polyvinyl alcohol slurry.Firstly,cationic cellulose,modified polyacrylamide and nano-silica were used as conventional sizing aids to test and characterize the stability,adhesion and abrasion resistance of the starch slurry.The inorganic calcium phosphate oligomer and maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene wax were used as raw materials to prepare homogeneous,stable,green self-emulsifying calcium phosphate oligomer-polyethylene wax nanohybrid emulsions under alkaline conditions.In this process,the prepare nanohybridizeded polyethylene wax emulsions were characterized.The prepared nanohybrid emulsions were also used as additives in the starch slurry to investigate their effect on the properties of starch slurry,while later expanding the application of the emulsions in the field of polyurethane coatings.The main research results are as follows.(1)Cationic cellulose,modified polyacrylamide and nano-silica are used as sizing agents to improve starch slurry’s stability,permeability and coating rate when a certain percentage of polyvinyl alcohol slurry is added.The mechanical and abrasion properties of the yarns obtained with this sizing are higher than those of pure polyvinyl alcohol sizing.Experimental results show that these additives are added to the starch slurry to replace some of the polyvinyl alcohol,enhance the performance of the starch slurry,improve product quality,but cannot completely replace the polyvinyl alcohol slurry.(2)In this project,a one-step high-pressure method prepared self-emulsifying nano-hybrid polyethylene high-pressure.The best protocol for preparation is as follows: 20 g of maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene wax,2 g of calcium phosphate oligomer,1.3 g of sodium hydroxide and 93 m L of deionized water are put together in an autoclave,stirred at900 r/min,heated to 145 °C,held for 60 min for emulsification and then lowered to room temperature and filtered.The final result is a homogeneous,stable,well-dispersed nanohybrid emulsion with a particle size of only 244 nm.Nanohybrid emulsions are added as additives to starch pastes to obtain higher performance than pure polyvinyl alcohol pastes without the addition of polyvinyl alcohol.The strength and abrasion resistance of the yarn has been tested to be more than 3 times higher.It meets the purpose and requirements of warp sizing and can replace PVA slurry as a new green and pollution-free auxiliary.(3)The nanohybrid emulsions prepared in this project have ultra-high wear resistance.Applied to polyurethane coatings,it enhances the wear resistance of polyurethane coatings.The nano-hybrid emulsions are well bonded to the polyurethane coating and can increase the abrasion resistance of the polyurethane film by more than four times compared to a pure polyurethane film without essentially compromising the mechanical properties of the film.
