Agricultural production is the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, and emissions are still increasing, this increase in greenhouse gas emissions caused by human activities has become the main factor of global climate change, its negative effects are becoming more and more obvious.Cultivated land is the most basic carrier of agricultural production, and farmers are the direct subjects of low-carbon production, whose behavior decisions directly determine the implementation and effect of agricultural low-carbon production mode. From the perspective of farmers’ livelihood capital research, this thesis takes farmers’ carbon emissions as the research object to explore the factors that affect farmers’ carbon emission behavior. On the basis of sustainable development theory, farmer’s behavior theory and low-carbon agriculture theory, farmers’ livelihood capital is divided into human, material, social and financial capital. At the same time,261 field survey data obtained from Qingshuihe County were used to describe and analyze the sample farmers’ production cognition of agricultural carbon emissions, their willingness to adopt low-carbon production behavior and the current situation of low-carbon production behavior. It was found that sample farmers had a high acceptance of low-carbon agricultural production mode, but few farmers implemented low-carbon agricultural production at the present stage. Finally, the agricultural carbon effect measurement method was used to calculate farmers’ carbon emissions, and the multiple regression model was used to analyze the effects of farmers’ human, material, social and financial capital on farmers’ carbon emission production behavior. The study concluded the following:(1)The overall human capital has passed the significance test, with the number of labor force at home and the physical health of the labor force positively affecting the carbon emissions of farmers, while the length of education negatively affecting the carbon emissions of farmers. This is mainly due to the low quantity and quality of agricultural labor force in the research area, and human capital is one of the most important influencing factors in the local area.(2)The only variable that passes the significance test is whether the material capital owns productive fixed assets. The actual land area of farmers and whether there are modern water-saving irrigation devices(drip irrigation, spray irrigation, etc.)at home do not pass the significance test. This is mainly because the cultivated land in the survey area is mostly in the mountains, and the physical capital can play a small role in agriculture.Large and medium-sized productive fixed assets also replace part of the labor force, which has a significant impact on the carbon emission behavior of farmers.(3)Social capital has passed the significance test on the whole.Among them, often helping other villagers for free, parents or relatives who are village cadres or planting experts, and often contacting relatives and friends in the city are conducive to improving the degree of low-carbon production behavior of farmers. This is mainly because of the pattern of difference formed for a long time, the farmers will be influenced by the human society;(4)Financial capital as a whole has a significant negative impact on farmers’ low-carbon production behavior, that is,the proportion of non-agricultural income in total income, household income and credit card all have a significant negative impact on farmers’ carbon emission production behavior. This is mainly because the higher the financial capital, driven by interests, farmers to a large extent give up the corresponding time and energy to invest in agricultural production, and then choose more agricultural products instead of human resources.Based on the research conclusions of this thesis from the perspective of farmers, the government and relevant departments, countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to strengthen publicity and training, improve personal quality of farmers, promote according to local conditions, adapt to regional development characteristics, improve capital support, reduce production risks of farmers,co-create with various parties, jointly promote low-carbon planting, enhance environmental awareness, and scientifically apply agricultural resources products. Thus promoting the implementation of low carbon production behavior of farmers.
