| The Liucheng kiln in Guangxi was founded in the early Yuan Dynasty and has a thick accumulation layer. At present, the academic cycle has mainly explored the distribution of the kiln site, the characteristics of the excavated relics, the rise and fall of the kiln, and the technological sources from the perspectives of archaeological excavation process, field survey, natural conditions,socio-historical background, and artifact typology, etc. However, the composition and analysis of the products of the kiln are almost blank.Based on the systematic investigation and chemical composition analysis of Liucheng kiln and their related porcelain kilns, the study also conducted systematic clustering analysis and initially came up with a better clustering algorithm to provide an effective tool for the subsequent establishment of the relationship between Liucheng kiln and product exporting places. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:1、The chemical composition of paste and glaze of Liucheng kiln and Tantoucun kiln was determined for the first time. The Si O2 content of Liucheng kiln paste ranged from 69.345%to 75.920%,with an average value of 72.249%,and the Al2O3 content ranged from 16.673%to 20.724%,with an average value of 18.611%,showing the typical high silicon and low aluminum characteristics of southern porcelain clay. The average Ca O content was 19.326%,apparently belonging to calcium glaze.2、A comparison of the chemical composition of the Liucheng kiln with that of the Naguping kiln, the Tantoucun kiln, the Yongfu kiln(Xushuichong site),and the Yanguan kiln shows that the differences in the sample data are small, and the combination of typology and geographic distribution suggests that there may be some correlation between them, such as a possible inheritance relationship between the Liucheng kiln and the Yanguan kiln.3、The systematic clustering analysis was performed on 24 sets of data with sample numbers over 10.17 sets of data showed that the absolute distance or Chebyshev distance-divergence sum of squares method was effective in clustering the kiln composition data, providing an effective tool for the next step of exploring the relationship between porcelain tiles excavated from Liucheng kiln and Liuzhou Lingquan Temple architectural site. |
