Powder coatings in the widely used acrylate leveling agent, mostly butyl acrylate class and other functional monomers of random copolymers.Usually, the traditional free radical solution polymerization is the polymerization method, and toluene and xylene are used as solvents to obtain acrylate leveling agents. This method has a polymer structure that is difficult to regulate, solvent pollution of the environment, and other disadvantages;the urgent need for an efficient, green, and environmentally friendly acrylate leveling agent synthesis method. With the development of ATRP polymerization technology,ATRP allows for the controlled synthesis of polymers using very low dosage catalysts and green solvents and the copolymerization of various functional monomers in n-butyl acrylate polymers to modulate the structural properties of the polymers. In this thesis, the biomass solventγ-valerolactone(GVL)was used as the solvent for the controlled synthesis of acrylate copolymers using the ATRP method with the addition of a very low dosage of catalyst. The primary studies are as follows:1.Synthesize homopolymers of styrene(St),methyl methacrylate(MMA),methyl acrylate(MA),and n-butyl acrylate(BA)monomers in GVL by the ATRP method. In GVL,To understand the rules for the ATRP homopolymerization of the above monomers.Optimize the polymerization reaction conditions by adding Na2CO3 and alkaline substances for catalysts.St,MMA,and BA use CuBr2 at 5 ppm;MA use easily removable Cu powder.MMA was polymerized in GVL for 18h with62.7%monomer Conversion and narrow molecular weight((?)=1.30);BA was polymerized in GVL for 6h with 55.1%monomer Conversion and narrow molecular weight((?)=1.18);MA was polymerized in GVL for 24h with 69.8%monomer Conversion and narrow molecular weight((?)=1.13).These results show that all monomers of the synthetic leveling agent class can ATRP polymerization in GVL with a very low catalyst dosage. The polymerization products have a controlled molecular weight and a narrow molecular weight distribution;the polymerization reaction is consistent with controlled polymerization.2.Synthesis of acrylate leveling agents. It uses the homopolymerization reaction conditions of the above monomers as the reaction conditions and the ATRP copolymerization reaction as the polymerization method,A series of acrylate leveling agents with different structures in the synthesis.Firstly, the PBA-Br macromolecular initiator synthesizes using BA as the monomer.Styrene enhances hardness, and fluoro substituted monomers, which improve resistance to high temperature and yellowing, were added;binary and tertiary n-butyl acrylate block copolymers do the synthesis.DSC and nuclear magnetic hydrogen spectroscopy investigated the structural properties of these copolymers.3.The random copolymerization system regarding industrial realization explore, the random copolymerization system of n-butyl acrylate in dibasic and tertiary explore.Random copolymers with different components do the synthesis, and the copolymer yield was increased to over 90%to meet industrial production needs.
