Research On The Application Of Yuxi Pounding Grass Printing Technique In Modern Women’s Wear Design

The traditional hand-dyeing technique is the crystallization of wisdom created by the ancestors,which has undergone the changes of the times and accumulated into the current huge dyeing and weaving cultural system.Pounding grass printing is a folk traditional printing and dyeing technique that has been spread in small and medium-sized areas in western Yu,and was included as an intangible cultural heritage protection project of Henan Province in 2011.Pounding grass printing,a primitive folk printing and dyeing technique that originated in the Ming and Qing dyeing periods,is not recorded in detail in the history of Chinese printing and dyeing and the existing folk printing and dyeing.Because of this,with the improvement of industrial printing and dyeing technology,pounding straw printing was lost for historical reasons in the early Republic of China and gradually faded out of people’s memory.Since 2008,Zhu Xiuyun,located in Renmazhai Village,Sanmenxia County,has finally restored this traditional folk skill based on her mother’s experience of pounding grass printing when she was a child,and through interviews and in-depth research with local elderly people who understand this skill.At present,most of the research on pounding grass printing technology revolves around its basic pattern and craft techniques,and there is a lack of research data on its application in clothing design.The purpose of this research project is to combine the pounding grass printing technology with modern women’s clothing design,so as to better express the beauty of the pounding straw printing art in modern design.This paper is based on the means of collecting,sorting,summarizing and analyzing the relevant data of pounding and printing techniques,combined with field visit research,workshop experience,process experiments,etc.,to carry out research on the topic of close combination of theory and practice.Starting from the design characteristics,focus on analyzing the process characteristics and use of pounding grass printing,and for modern women’s clothing design,closely combine pounding straw printing with the current fashion trend,and carry out new design attempts: taking purple bamboo as the source of inspiration,based on daily basic styles in terms of style,integrating the new Chinese style of 2023 silhouette trends to create an oriental classical aesthetic atmosphere;In terms of color,it breaks the traditional light-colored base cloth,combines it with traditional plant dyeing,and uses Dai purple,one of the traditional Chinese color purple series,as the main color;In addition to the cotton and linen commonly used for pounding grass printing,combine it with pure cotton jacquard fabric to enhance the wearing experience;In terms of design details,we want to perfectly reflect and inherit the classic Chinese elements,and adopt design elements such as imagery purple bamboo,disc buckles,and Chinese standing collars;In terms of technology,a variety of process methods of pounding grass printing are used to comprehensively print and dye,and the diversity of the presentation forms of pounding grass printing is explored.
